Chapter 22 - A Doubt of Seleyena

Chapter 22 - 22 - A Doubt of Seleyena

"Thalia?" Seleyena, standing while looking down toward a fleet of cars belonging to one of the renowned families, suddenly heard the name from the woman who—alongside the dean's son—had drugged a girl also named Thalia.

Her suspicion grew stronger as she noticed a sudden movement—a young woman stepped out of the car and slapped the dean's son's girlfriend.

Seleyena narrowed her eyes, studying the girl's exposed skin: the slight cleavage, the neck, the lower lip... and found it—barely visible, but there—dried fluid and hickeys near the neck.

It didn't take her long to realize this was the same girl they had drugged. And judging by her reaction, it seemed they'd succeeded in ruining her life.

'Should I call the local authorities?' Seleyena stood there, arms folded, eyes flicking toward the dean.

The answer was clear—yes.

But the influence the man held... she doubted whether she'd be able to do so.

So she remained there, thinking. Maybe the one who brought the girl was from the Blac Corporation. Maybe someone powerful was backing her.

"Cruxius Blac."

'!?!'

That name alone was enough to make Seleyena's chest tighten.

The same perverted man she had heard about in whispers—called a rabbit and sex fiend by the dean's son—was now stepping out. None other than the heir to the Blac Corporation—Cruxius Blac.

'Poor girl—' Seleyena looked at the man, knowing what that woman must've gone through.

But as their eyes briefly met—a fleeting moment—he dismissed it like a passing glance, and then his voice came again.

This time, he spoke about being drugged alongside Thalia by both Dean's son and his girlfriend.

'What?' Seleyena's eyes flickered, widening.

Jake was screaming in pain, while Jenny—the girl who got slapped—stood dazed. None of them said a word. And in that silence, it dawned on her.

Maybe the young man had been telling the truth all along.

Why else would he bring Thalia to the hospital? There was no reason to... unless he wasn't the one responsible after all.

Maybe... he wasn't what the dean's son claimed.

"LIES! We—we didn't drug anyone!" Jenny burst out, furious and confused as the situation spiraled out of control. She turned to Cruxius, then to the dean—hoping, as Jake's father, he'd help her.

"Th-That's..." But Alvian stood frozen, overwhelmed.

Just moments ago, he had scolded Dr. Seleyena, telling her to drop the matter. He thought Jake's prank with the drug wasn't serious.

Now... now he realized Jake had drugged the heir of the Blac Corporation.

Jaw clenched, angered, he looked at his writhing son. Then he clicked his tongue. Whatever Jake had done—he was still his son. He needed to fix this.

"Can't we come to some conclusion, Sir Cruxius?" he asked, trying to suggest an internal settlement. No courts. No judiciary.

Just... compensation behind closed doors.

'How unsightly of you, Sir Alvian.' Seleyena had now, for the second time that day, seen the true face of the dean. A man who preached truth and integrity to his patients now tried to cover up a crime.

She turned to the heir of the Blac Corporation. Cruxius met her gaze again.

This time... it didn't feel like a coincidence.

'Why is he looking at me—' Seleyena's thoughts raced. She was about to question it when his voice cut through.

"Miss Seleyena, help Thalia a bit. I need to deal with Mr. Alvian." Cruxius smirked inwardly. He had finally noticed the woman who piqued his interest—and called her out directly, making her flinch in surprise.

'!'

"Huh?" Seleyena stood stunned.

How did he know she even existed—let alone her name? But he had said it.

She looked at him, then nodded instinctively. Her eyes shifted to Thalia, who was glaring at Jenny.

Then—Slap!

"Urgh!—Y-You—" Jenny reeled back, stunned. She didn't even understand the reason for the second slap until Thalia screamed:

"How dare you lie! Just admit your mistake for once, for God's sake!" Thalia's voice trembled as tears welled in her eyes.

Jenny had always blamed her, always avoided accountability, and now, the weight of all those years boiled over.

"Miss Thalia, please come with me." Seleyena stepped in and gently took Thalia's hand.

As a doctor—specifically a gynecologist—she understood what was needed. Birth control. Consolation. Medical treatment.

That's why Cruxius Blac had brought Thalia here.

She couldn't let her delay.

"Huh? Hey—stop! Don't pull me! Let me slap that idiot agai—...eh?!" Thalia protested, yanked from her fury. She struggled, but Seleyena's grip was firm.

The woman was stronger—and didn't even look at her.

Thalia's protest turned into a futile tug. She could only turn back and show Jenny a middle finger in defiance.

But she and Seleyena both froze the moment they saw it—

BAM

Mr. Alvian, the dean, was bent forward, coughing, clutching his gut.

He had been punched.

The fist belonged to Cruxius.

"Khuchkk!" Mr. Alvian, clutching his chest with both hands after taking a punch directly to the solar plexus, collapsed to his knees, trembling as saliva dripped from his mouth.

Instantly, a nearby nurse rushed over to help him up.

"When the dog misbehaves, you don't scold the mutt—you leash the master." Cruxius folded his sleeves, then casually lifted a hand—without even glancing in the direction of Thalia or Dr. Seleyena—gesturing for them to leave, silently waving them off as if to say he would handle the matter from here.

"D-did he just—" Seleyena stood stiffly, staring straight ahead at the dean. She had expected a verbal confrontation, but this—this was something else entirely.

Her eyes trembled, mouth agape, as she witnessed the young heir of the Blac Corporation striking someone as influential as the hospital's dean in front of everyone.

It was a crime in broad daylight.

"D-damn him!" Thalia, visibly shaken and afraid, turned toward Jenny—whose eyes were fixed on the fallen dean, equally shocked.

But then, for a fleeting moment, her gaze met Cruxius'', who wore a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips—as if this entire incident had gone exactly as he had planned. As if he wanted her to see it.

A message.

He had done this for her.

She wasn't naïve enough to believe his earlier lie about being drugged.

He was just a perverted sex fiend.

And now, in front of everyone—and even her—he was about to use his authority and influence to publicly humiliate Jenny's fiancé and his father, just to set an example.

Just to impress her.

'I need to run!' But then, her eyes caught Darithi's eyes. She was looking right at her, making it clear that if she made even a slightly suspicious move, she would catch her and lift her like a child again.

"I-I feel pain, please treat me, doctor!" Thalia blurted out, spinning around as if the pain suddenly struck her—realizing she had only one chance to escape from this madness.

Her palm itched with the urge to slap Jenny again, but she held herself back. Instead, she grabbed Dr. Seleyena's hand and sprinted away, dragging her along.

"Y-yes!" Dr. Seleyena responded quickly, understanding her priorities.

She rushed to help Thalia, who was now panting in feigned pain—though not without casting one last glance back. First, she looked towards Thalia, whom that man had brought to the hospital, showing his humanity, and then back at the kneeling dean after getting punched by him.

'Cruxius Blac... are you a criminal or...?'
