Chapter 34: Chapter 34 – What women should do

Joanna and Violet went shopping after the meal with Violet’s brother. He left after seeing the bodyguard and knowing his sister would be safe but was saddened to hear about Joanna’s marriage, wondering why he didn’t meet her before her husband.

Joanna could not get over Alex’s visit to her mother throughout her entire shopping spree, wondering if her mother’s obsession with Alex’s father was the reason why she was so happy to have him around.

"Joan, why are you buying so many things from different shops? I mean, I can sponsor you to a certain extent, but that diamond necklace costs a million. Isn’t your husband broke?"

Violet loved to spoil herself but still had limits to her expenditure. Joanna portrayed herself as the keeper, so Violet expected her to be more responsible.

"He’s not, and also, we are going to have a wedding, so be ready to be the maid of honor," Joanna revealed casually and continued shopping for the most expensive items.

These were things she would have never looked at twice if Alex had not upset her with his annoying display of money.

He kept reminding her that money was not a problem, so why should she be worried about her spending for their wedding?

The wedding planner could take care of the event, but she was going to take care of everything she wanted to wear on her body, including that of her maid of honor.

"Wait, you mean your hubby is secretly rich?" Violet found this interesting, wondering what Logan would feel about this since Joanna had not let her in on the details.

This was not something she had to say. Everything would be revealed on the day of the wedding, so she had to look her best.

"On our wedding day, you will know more, so pick anything you want for personal use, the wedding, and whatnot," she waved dismissively like the rich woman she was. Her weekly allowance was already too much for her, and she planned on putting it into investments.

However, Violet was reluctant. "Are you sure about this?"

Joanna chuckled, dragging her to the next luxury store where the most expensive perfumes were being sold. "You don’t believe me, let’s do it this way. Whatever your eyes like, I will pick it for you."

"How can you tell?" Violet asked, dropping the shopping bags from the other shops and staring at her. Jack came for the bags to free their hands, wondering why women could shop so much.

From the look on their faces, they were going to shop some more.

"Like the way you are staring at that perfume? We are taking it."

She was already on her way to do as said when Violet restricted her. "Look, I’m rich, but I don’t waste money like this."

Joanna was holding herself back from spilling the beans. "This is not waste. It’s a necessity."

Violet shook her head, pressing her finger on Joanna’s forehead to check her temperature, in case she was having a fever.

"Joan, are you alright? Your behavior is odd."

Joanna smiled proudly, her head held high. "I’m very fine. I didn’t mean to tell you this, but you seem to genuinely care."

They hadn’t known each other for long, but she could tell that Violet would not betray her one day. The girl was so real and transparent like an open book. frёewebnoѵēl.com

"I do. You are the kind of girl I wanted to be, but I was already rotten by nineteen because of bad friends. That’s why I cut them off. But you, you bring out the good girl in me," Violet said honestly.

She couldn’t wait until her eighteenth birthday to propose to her first crush. He rejected her, but that did not stop her from trying again when she was eighteen. The relationship didn’t last, and neither did the others that followed, including the ones where the man was the first to propose.

"I’m glad, and I will never forget how you stood up for me." Joanna’s voice was filled with emotion as she recalled how Violet broke up with Logan because of her.

"That’s what women should do. It’s nothing," Violet shrugged. Joanna took a deep breath, leaned in, and revealed in a whisper.

"Alex said he’ll never have time for me, and the only thing I’ll get is his money."

"Oh," Violet gasped, air beginning to fill her lungs from anger. The nerve of that man. "Then you better spend it. You know what, I changed my mind. I wanna shop for more, but are you sure your car can take it?" She asked. Joanna laughed.

This was the Violet she was expecting to see, and she was glad they were in sync with each other.

"We can rent a car or call a driver from home to bring another," Joanna exclaimed, unaware that Jack had already made that arrangement after sending the first and second batch of items into the car.

Wholeheartedly, Violet agreed this time. "I love that. Let’s go to the jewelry section. You need a more expensive one."

"Like how much?" Joanna asked, wondering if Violet was still going to settle for something economical.

"Ten million won’t be bad," Violet revealed. Joanna smiled excitedly.

"Now you are talking."

The two women continued to buy anything that caught their eyes as Violet asked casually. "I hope he’s receiving the alerts."

"I guess so." Joanna checked her phone and smiled. "He sent a message."

"Let’s read it." Violet drew close, her interest at its peak.

’I’ve received alerts of your purchases, and they are too cheap for the wedding. I figured you thought the card was limited, so I’ve transferred a hundred million to your bank account. You and your friend should shop some more.’

Their moods were instantly ruined. Violet was the first to speak. "I have to be honest with you, girl. All you can have is his money, but I’m tired of shopping."

Joanna had to agree. This was not what she expected. "I just wanted to teach him the value of money and to upset him a little."

Violet didn’t like her sour mood and thought of brightening it. "I think I have the perfect idea," she said with a smile, earning Joanna’s interest.

Violet whispered in her ear, and Joanna’s eyes went wild. "Are you sure?"

Another driver had come to take the first part of the items home, so Joanna and Violet sat comfortably in the back. Driving home, Jack froze when Violet mentioned their next destination.

"I’m sorry, but I have to inform the big boss first."
