Chapter 449: A Grim Promise

There is one thing to assure Elaine her parents are safe and another to turn to her master and accuse him of taking her parents hostage.

These two things are not easy to say boldly.

On one side, Elaine was just exposed as someone being held against her wishes.

Then, her master was exposed as the one doing the holding. He was the one who was making sure the lady didn't have any say in how her life progressed.

These two discoveries were all made by a mere brat who was smiling like he hadn't just accused a Pill Saint of doing evil deeds to his disciple.

"Pill Master Elaine, is it true your parents are being held hostage?" someone asked from the audience.

Elaine turned and looked at the VIP box where her master was and then back at Kent.

"You can answer. Your parents are no longer in harm's way, so speaking the truth wouldn't harm them," Kent said.

The moment those words brought Elaine's confidence, Kent waved his hand.

Inside the VIP room, Pill Saint Enex's face turned pale. It wasn't because he had seen a ghost or held at gun point.

No.

He had just tried to soul attack Elaine, but it was blocked, and he could tell he was struck in return; however, he couldn't tell why he hadn't died, considering the soul strength that blocked him could easily kill him.

"You do know trying to kill your own disciple is a crime?" Kent asked, making everyone even more confused.

First, it was holding her parents hostage; now, it was him trying to kill his own disciple. It wasn't making sense.

"Hey, brat, just because you've proven you're the Perfect Alchemist doesn't mean you can just start making accusations. Respect your seniors," Pill Saint Desmond said, appearing in thin air.

The other Pill Saints appeared, bringing with them their suffocating presence.

Looking up, one has to give it to them; they are worthy of admiration. Too bad they are all rotten to the core, every last one of them.

"You managed to win the duel, so where are all these accusations coming from?" Pill Saint Evilyn asked.

"But I wasn't making accusations. This young lady has been under the control of her master for years, and while I know you all knew that, why ask this question then?

Or are you trying to say you knew nothing about this?"

Kent turned and looked at Elaine. "You don't have to say anything if you don't want to.

Your master was trash at heart, and from what I knew, trash makes friends with trash, so just go meet your parents." Kent waved his hand, and the young lady appeared in a lush garden sitting atop a beautiful mountain.

It was sunset inside the tower, so she was right on time to see her parents having tea. They seemed to have been there for a while now.

"Mom!"

"Dad!"

She called out, causing her parents to turn and smile at her.

"Kiddo," her mom called out, making Elaine break into tears as she ran and jumped into her arms. She may have forgotten she is now a grown-up to be acting like a spoiled little girl.

Thankfully, her mother is a Grandmaster, so she was able to handle her weight.

Meanwhile, on the outside, Kent was looking at the shocked faces of the Pill Saints and everyone watching.

"She is gone, and I doubt she will return after ten years," Kent smirked as he looked at the Pill Saint, whom he had initially thought was different.

He waved his hand, and ten vials of poison appeared.

"These are the ten vials of poison I promised you at the auction. Have them, and this concludes all interactions between us.

I initially thought you were different, but it seems you are the rottenest of the bunch. I wouldn't come after you since you haven't come after me, but I will make you this promise.

If you dare come after me, you will die. That is a promise, and it extends to you all. I don't care how important you are to these four kingdoms. My threat is absolute and cannot be escaped.

You are Pill Saints, capable of concocting pills that can improve the lives of the masses. You are beings that can take and nurture young talents.

However, instead of doing that, you use them for your own good. As an alchemist, I am disgusted by such behavior, and you should also be disappointed and disgusted with yourselves.

'Take no life, use no life for a pill, and never use life as your main ingredient.' That was what you should practice, yet you used your knowledge to hurt and destroy."

The more Kent spoke, the thicker the tension in the air became.

"I wouldn't tell you what to do, but know what is good for you and stay out of my business. Like I said, you wouldn't know how you died."

Kent next turned toward the wicked Poison Witch.

"I promised I would deactivate the seal on your disciple after the competition. Since this is the end for me, I will do that now."

Kent waved his hand, and the seal appeared on her forehead, causing Annabelle to sigh in relief. After that, Kent turned and faced the audience.

"I will soon start selling pills from Tier 3 upwards at the Silver Leaf Auction House. Announcements will be made when they are on sale.

Until then, I will be taking my leave." Kent didn't even turn to look at the Pill Saints. He just flew away, showing his disgust.

Naturally, his anger wasn't really coming from him.

It was like a part of him, the part that is in love with alchemy, was disgusted by the alchemists who were supposed to inspire.

They were supposed to be pillars of support and follow the righteous path of pill making. However, all he saw was disgust, which made him call them out.

Kent made them aware that they do not think and act supremely because they are Pill Saints. He made them aware that integrity is the most valuable aspect in the path of pill making.

It will depend on them whether they listen. But his warning stood; those who come after him will die, and this part of him that made that vow wasn't jest or the Dragon Lord or even Kent himself.

No, it was a different part of him.

A part he had just gotten a memory key to unlock.

That part of him brought gods to their knees. He made kings and queens bow in surrounded.

His name alone was enough to strike fear in the hearts of immortals.

He had but one first name and no last name. He had no friends, no relatives and no romantic attachments.

He has no face, so nobody knows his true identity.

In all of his existence, his name and face were known only to one person, and that person was his mother.

Many called him the exterminator, the executioner, the grim reaper.

Those are just his nicknames.

His mother called him Dela, for that was the name she gave to him right after she fell to her death.

However, to the rest of the universe, they called him the Faceless Assassin.
