Chapter 307 - 304-Left Just Fine, Now We Can’t Even Get Back?!
After Little White left with a bounce in his step, Velen suddenly remembered something critical. His expression turned serious as he quickly questioned the system:
"System, wait a minute! Something's off!"
"Earlier, I asked about Apollo's power, and you told me he could solo the entire Endless Sanctuary."
"But Apollo is only a Star Emperor Rank Level 9, right? Are you telling me he could just ignore the original Great Divine Magic Array?"
Ding!
Host previously asked whether Apollo's strength surpassed that of the Endless Sanctuary as a whole. For the sake of clarity, the system did not factor in the Great Divine Magic Array at the time.
Ding!
Reminder: if Apollo truly wanted to destroy the Endless Sanctuary, there are numerous ways he could have drained the sanctuary's supply of mana crystals and Stellar Cores.
Once the arrays are unable to activate, he could indeed wipe out the sanctuary solo.
Velen nodded as understanding dawned.
"No wonder the Endless Sanctuary had to retreat to this remote corner of the upper plane universe despite having the Great Divine Magic Array."
"Turns out that relying on one powerful formation isn't enough. Without real strength to back it up, you can't hold the field."
Meanwhile, in the lower plane universe... back in the fortress.
"Psycho! I missed you so much!"
The red-haired, one-eyed man was still chasing the rabbit with his scythe when a familiar voice echoed in the air, sending chills down his spine.
That silver-haired freak is here too?!
"What's wrong with you, White Hair?! Why the hell are you chasing me outside now? What's your deal?!"
The red-haired lunatic kept running as he cursed back.
Little White, the Great Divine Magic Array master, grinned and called back:
"Not my choice! But Boss Velen said you and Etenny were living too comfortably out here, so I'm here to remind you what 'home' feels like!"
Just then, a cute little girl sucking on a lollipop materialized beside them. Crimson runes twisted to life on her skin as she pounced toward Little White.
"Heehee! Since going back means more pain anyway, I might as well enjoy the 'warmth of home' with you first!"
"Hahaha! This is too fun! You guys really know how to play!"
The rabbit laughed gleefully, watching the chaos unfold.
"You cheeky rabbit! Since you think it's so fun, you join too!"
The red-haired man spun on his heel, brandishing his blood-colored scythe and charging at the rabbit.
"Aw crap!"
Ironback Centipede, who'd been lurking nearby, broke into a cold sweat.
This escalated too quickly! Should I run now? I wasn't ready for this!
"Seriously?!"
"Centipede bro! I'm already getting bullied to death, and instead of helping, you're standing there spectating? Fine—take my foot to the face!"
Meanwhile, back in the upper plane universe, outside Endless Sanctuary...
"This is insanity! Has the world gone mad?!"
"There's actually someone out there who paid one million advanced mana crystals just to join the sanctuary? And it's a madman too!"
Lilith stood frozen, staring at the young man named Sivan, her entire worldview shaken.
"Sanctuary Master, the recruitment conditions were set by you. I've followed them to the letter and paid the full price. You're not planning to back out now, are you?"
Sivan's tone was nervous, though his face remained composed.
"Sivan... are you sure you want to join Endless Sanctuary?" Lilith asked gravely.
"If your mentor finds out, he'll probably kill you."
"I've made up my mind," Sivan said firmly. "And besides, my mentor can't control me anymore."
Lilith sighed in resignation and led Sivan toward the sanctuary's entrance.
Void Elder, Amethyst Elder, and Illusory Demon Elder all stole sideways glances at Sivan, equally dumbfounded. None of them had expected they'd recruit him of all people during this ceremony.
Moments later, the group arrived at the sanctuary gate.
"What in the world...? Is this Magical Rainbow Gold?"
What had once been a standard entrance was now a shifting maze constructed entirely from the rare magical mineral.
Everyone froze in disbelief.
"A labyrinth array! That's a labyrinth built from thousands of Magical Rainbow Gold stones!"
"And they're moving! We can't use mind power or soul sense inside. It's like going in blind!"
They floated up into the air for a better view.
The glittering maze filled the entire entranceway, sealing it completely. All of them were stunned by the sight.
"There's probably only one person who could afford this kind of extravagance—Titan Elder Velen. This maze has his name written all over it," Lilith muttered.
"Everyone wait here. I'll see if I can fly over the top."
Void Elder took off toward the maze.
WHOOM!
The instant he breached the maze's boundaries, a streak of azure energy flashed past his ear—and the surrounding space shuddered violently.
"Holy—!"
Void Elder gulped audibly and flew back in panic.
"Sanctuary Master! This isn't a normal maze array. There's a modified Great Divine Magic Array woven into it! The power is way beyond what it used to be. Something's definitely changed!"
"We'd better walk through the maze properly and find Velen. Only he can explain this madness."
Lilith nodded solemnly and took the lead into the labyrinth.
The moment they entered, the trouble began.
No mind power.
No spiritual probing.
Their surroundings were filled with reflections of themselves bouncing off the polished Magical Rainbow Gold surfaces.
Within moments, they were disoriented, dizzy, and downright irritable.
To make things worse, with ten thousand blocks constantly shifting positions, it didn't take long for everyone to get separated.
There was no end to it. No progress. Every wall looked the same.
Their frustration built quickly.
None of them had ever imagined that a maze could drive them to the brink of madness.
Confused, disoriented, and gradually slipping into despair, the once-dignified elders were now muttering to themselves in desperation.
Even Illusory Demon Elder, watching them through the control interface, was beginning to tremble.
"This... This maze formation is even scarier than I thought."
"These people are not the kind of enemies you can afford to offend... and yet even they're getting pushed to the edge of insanity. That's the scariest thing about this formation—it doesn't just attack the body... it attacks the mind!"
"Everyone, just walk straight ahead from where you are. You'll be out soon!"
Illusory Demon Elder's voice finally echoed through the maze like a ray of salvation.
Moments later...
WHOOSH!
As each of them stepped out of the maze, they collectively let out a breath of relief, releasing all the frustration and tension they'd bottled up.
"Illusory Demon Elder!"
Lilith fixed her gaze on him.
"What the hell is up with that maze formation?!"
"Sanctuary Master!"
"This entire labyrinth was designed by Titan Elder Velen!"
"It contains an enhanced version of the Great Divine Magic Array and is reinforced with a defensive array of unimaginable strength!"
"Put simply, as long as you feed it enough advanced mana crystals, even demi-god level beings would be trapped and eventually killed. Taking down anyone weaker would be effortless!"
Illusory Demon Elder summarized the situation as clearly as he could.
Lilith didn't respond.
She suddenly shot back into the sky, her eyes scanning the entire maze with sharp intent.
"Where is it?!"
"Where is the array's core?!"
"Illusory Demon Elder, the array eye—our sacred core formation, passed down through generations of the sanctuary—where has it gone?!"
Lilith's voice grew shrill with panic.
She couldn't find it anywhere.
The core array formation—the very heart of the sanctuary's long-standing magical defense—was missing from its usual location.
