Chapter 1169: Just like…

Chapter 1169: Just like…

With Puffer controlling the mass of water, we smoothly entered the crack that was on the bottom of the sea.

This was a large crack, but if one looked carefully, they could see that there was something at the edge of the cracks. It seemed like there was some kind of bubble that was there that kept the water away.

For someone as sensitive to magic as me, I could tell that there were traces of mana that were there, showing that there was some kind of spell cast on this entrance.

Though from my knowledge of the game, I knew that this was actually a defense mechanism that was made for this Witch Gully.

The magic that was at the sides of the gully was actually an illusion array.

Since it was Puffer, one of the Five Great Witches of the Sea guiding us, the illusion array had been taken down. But if she wasn't the one that was guiding us, then we wouldn't have been able to make it through this place that easily.

We wouldn't have even been able to see the gully that was in front of us since there would have been an illusion that prevented us from seeing it.

The illusion would have not just hidden the gully, but also have tricked us into losing track of this place.

In short, it would have made it so that we would have become lost and would have moved away from the entrance of the gully. We would have wandered around until we were far away from this place.

In a place like this where there were many deep sea predators wandering around, this was much more dangerous than it seemed. If we were to wander around in this place while being trapped by an illusion array, it would be very likely that we would be hunted by these predators without even knowing.

The defenses that these sea witches set to protect their hideout was really something else. But they were sea witches, so...

With Puffer leading the way, we easily floated down in the Witch Gully.

After we entered the Witch Gully, I could feel the mana fluctuations coming from above us. That was the illusion array that was set at the entrance of the Witch Gully doing its thing. The illusion array was reactivating, so in a sense, it could be said that we were trapped down here since we didn't know the way out of here.

However, I was calm since I knew that nothing would happen to us.

The sea witches might seem like savages to the people of the Merman Empire, but I knew that they weren't like that. Since Puffer had made a deal with me, she would keep that deal.

Once we came far down enough, there was light that came from below us.

The further we went down, the more clear this light became.

It was an entire town at the bottom of this gully.

Seeing this town, there was a faint smile that appeared on my lips.

I couldn't help thinking that this was reminiscent since this was the scene that I saw in the game before. This was the same CG that was shown when the player arrived in Witch Gully.

I noticed that Puffer was looking at me with a strange look, but I didn't mind it as I just looked down with the same reminiscent smile.

To my side, I heard Ariel say in a soft voice, "It's just a normal town..."

At that, I turned to her and said, "They're just normal people. Even if they're sea witches, that doesn't mean that they're not normal people." freёnovelkiss.com

Ariel looked at me with a confused look, but I didn't say anything else as I turned back to look at the town in front of us.

As if she was giving us time to take in the view, the mass of water that we were on slowly descended to the ground. When we came close to the ground, the mass of water suddenly went down quickly and landed on the ground.

After landing, there was a group that came over.

There were some looks that were cast in our direction, but it seemed like they were just a bit curious about who we were and nothing else. It didn't seem like they wanted to talk to us at all, it seemed like they preferred to talk to Puffer.

"Miss Puffer, it's been a while since you've been back!"

"Miss Puffer, can you take a look at this echolocation spell that I've learned? I'm not sure if I've got it right."

"Miss Puffer, can you please teach me the familiar spell? I'll fail my class if you don't help me!"

It was clear that Puffer was a well accepted member in the society of the sea witches. Not only that, it seemed that she was a very looked up to person with the way that they treated her.

This wasn't just because of her status as one of the Five Great Witches of the Sea, but rather because it seemed like they all genuinely liked her.

Puffer said a few things to them before raising her hand to say, "I'm on some business today, so I don't have any time to help you."

Gesturing to us, she said, "I'll have to help them first, so I'll catch up with you later."

The ones that surrounded her seemed disappointed when they heard this, but they still nodded in agreement and headed off.

Ariel had been carefully watching this the entire time and it was hard to tell what she was thinking based on the expression on her face.

Puffer didn't care as she waved her hand at us to follow.

So I took the lead and pulled Ariel along with the air bubble while she was just standing there looking around in a daze.

After a long time, when we were in the middle of the town, she suddenly spoke.

"They're just like us..."
