Chapter 53: A NEW COMPANY

Chapter 53: A NEW COMPANY

A week has passed since Harlow last visited her father. The spies have stopped following her everywhere and everything is back to normal again, except the part where she’s still out of her father’s mansion.

The auction was tomorrow night, the night when she would get to showcase her new diamond collection and make more money. She couldn’t afford to fail.

"These designs..." Elena stared at the diamonds with pride. She hasn’t seen something as marvelous as this before. Her boss was really so talented if they get to present this at the auction, they sure are going to make so much money from it.

"I’m planning on launching a new diamond company, I’m leaving father’s company for good," Harlow said.

"Have you thought of a name yet?" Richie asked.

"Hmm, I decided to use my mother’s name for it. ’Gleam Arcadia’.

"Wow, that’s a perfect name," Edward said and Harlow nodded. She wanted to keep her mother’s legacy alive in some way.

"So every piece of diamond here is inspired by her," Harlow added. From what she had learned from Ava, she was the exact opposite of her mother. While she’s wild and uncouth, her mother is calm and gentle. A contrast of her formal self, the self she despises so much.

"With these babies, our victory is guaranteed." Elena smiled. She’s the most excited person in the room, she couldn’t wait for their lives to restart again. Though the week had been chaotic with them always running away from stalkers, they had completed their mission.

"And these diamonds, what are we using them for?" Richie pointed out staring at the diamonds arranged in a corner. Thought beautiful too, they aren’t as grand as the special diamond jewels Harlow had kept.

"They’re for special people, a treat to teach some rats to stop stealing." Harlow smiled. She had everything planned out.

"Richie, for tomorrow’s auction you will pose as my boss," Harlow said and Richie nodded. He had no idea what his boss was planning but he was ready to do whatever she planned.

Harlow on the other hand didn’t want to reveal her identity just yet. Revealing herself was exposing her new company to leaches, especially her father. He would destroy it in the blink of an eye.

Just all four people were plotting for the big event they all had the next day, a knock was heard on the door. "Come, Ava," Harlow said and she walked in.

"Miss Harlow, a letter came for you. I think it’s from your father’s mansion." Ava said. Harlow snatched the letter and tore it open.

Even if she knew the truth, she still wanted to hope Frank had changed his mind and seen how wrong he was and was apologizing. When she opened the letter, a frown marred her face.

"Claudia," Harlow muttered wondering what her dear sister wanted from her. She read through the letter quickly and scoffed. It was meant to be delivered a week ago, a week before the auction.

She knew this would happen. Claudia had no idea about diamonds, yet plotted to get her out of the company. They stole her manuscript and manipulated her father to turn against her, now they need her help.

"What does it say?" Ava asked.

"Apparently, Father wants me back to the jewel company. I guess they miss me." Harlow said passing the paper down to Richie. He read through it and frowned too. The nerve they have after all of the humiliation they cost her.

Elena and Edward weren’t also happy about the news. "The nerve after everything they’ve done," Elena said. She has never seen a family be so cruel to one another. Most times she wonders if all wealthy people are like this.

"Keep the letter amongst the other treatures for future purposes Richie. We will need more than enough evidence when it’s time." Richie nodded and kept the letter in the safe. The safe was the only place they stored valuable items.

"Well, it’s a good thing the letter is a week old. My silence should give them all the answers they need."

Harlow stepped out of the lab after her words, she had other pressing matters to attend to. Matters that aren’t about her family.

She had arranged everything for the auction, there was no going back now.

Over at the Hamilton’s co-operation, Alanis sat in his office lost in his thoughts. The investments he made a few days ago for the growth of his company had all gone to waste. The investors that invested had all withdrawn their investments. No one trusted his company anymore.

The Hamiltons are officially going bankrupt.

He had no idea what next to do. For some reason, it seems something was missing from his life. Aside from Harlow’s inheritance which he didn’t need anymore, he had gotten help and support from Claudia in his past life. She had been the brain behind the success of his company back then.

Little did Alanis know that the success of his company back then had been Harlow. Just as she did for her father, she had done the same for Alanis. She placed all of her focus on a man who never loved her and her father’s legacy and empire had fallen. In the end, the Hamiltons cut all ties with the Blackwoods.

Alanis had no idea that the woman who stayed at home every day cooking, cleaning, and bearing children for him supported him in ways he couldn’t imagine.

She had reduced herself to a mere housewife, letting her sister take all the glory for the work she did.

That is the missing piece in his business.

Harlow...

He stared at the letter on the table with a diamond ring on it. It was sent by Claudia, an invitation to be her husband. She had shamelessly penned down her thoughts to him.

Alanis was confused, he had no idea whether to stick by Harlow or go for her sister who could solve his problems at once.

After all, Harlow doesn’t love him anymore, she said so herself. Besides, his marriage to her in his past life was what caused so much pain to her till her death. He didn’t want to cause her any pain.

Maybe they’re not meant to be together, maybe he’s not meant to be married to her.

Maybe Claudia has been his wife all along. He would be doing Harlow a huge favor if they weren’t married in this life.

Maybe this is how things are supposed to be.

He has made his decision, he will marry Claudia...
