"How could you make such decisions without consulting me, Alanis?" Grandma Hamilton paced around his room with her walking stick for support while Alanis arranged his outfit.

She had only just found out from Garth that Alanis had agreed to the marriage, but she had no idea why he suddenly decided to change his mind.

"Does this tie match with this outfit, we’ll be seeing our in-laws today at the auction so I need to look my best."

"Your wife should be in a position to decide that. And since when do you dress to impress?" She waved him off.

"That is why I’m getting married soon. It’ll save you the stress of always doing things for me." He said calmly. Charlotte sighed eyeing her stubborn grandson stylishly. He had been this stubborn in his last life and had lost his son and wife. She couldn’t believe he was making the same mistake this time worse.

This time, she’ll never be able to see her grandson again.

There’s a reason she must have been reincarnated even if she knew she had little time to live. She had come back to change the pain she felt in her past life.

"You will never have my blessings if you go against me, Alanis." Grandma threatened, but her grandson’s mind seemed made up.

"Hurry up or we’ll be late for the auction," Alanis said. "Whatever decision I’ve made is for our good, you’ll learn to love Claudia and your future grandkids." He smiled and started walking out of the room.

Charlotte frowned, she would never let that girl be her daughter-in-law. It has to be Harlow and Harlow alone.

On the highest floor of Eiston Hotel was the grand auction event, hosted by the Blackwoods. They have gathered everyone to showcase their new diamond collections.

Hosting a grand auction was like a yearly tradition for the Blackwoods. They gather all of the prominent people in the city and showcase their diamond collection which is always the best and most beautiful jewel in the country.

Other talents are allowed to compete, but the Blackwood’s jewel always comes on top. All thanks to a certain someone who was never appreciated for the success of the company.

Harlow stepped out of the car, parked right at the entrance of the grand hotel. Whether she had been kicked out of her family’s mansion or not, nothing was going to stop her from attending the biggest event of the year.

She wore a black mini bodycon dress that fit her perfectly, showing off her figure in the most elegant way. It was one of the simplest outfits she owned, yet she looked absolutely stunning in it.

With barely any makeup, just a touch of mascara and a little gloss on her lips. Harlow still looked more beautiful than those who had spent hours getting ready.

Almost the same time she stepped out, Alanis and his grandmother stepped out of their car together. The woman has rejected his advances to help her as she struggled out of the car on her own. She will never accept anything from her grandson ever again until he decides to change his mind.

Harlow smiled at her stubbornness and walked over to where they were. "Mr. Hamilton," she greeted, her voice calm and steady.

For a moment, Alanis froze, staring at her like he was caught in a dream. He blinked several times, trying to shake off the effect she had on him.

Harlow wasn’t a celebrity, but she looked like a model straight out of a glossy magazine. The way she carried herself, with such grace and elegance, was unlike anything Alanis had ever seen before.

He had to keep reminding himself that he was getting married soon and shouldn’t be thinking about her. Besides, Harlow had already made it clear she hated everything about him. It was obvious she had moved on, and now, he had to do the same. ƒreewebɳovel.com

"Miss Blackwood." Alanis’s tone was cold and distant, just like it was in her past life, but she ignored it. She turned to Grandma Hamilton.

"Grandma, are you okay?"

"My pretty daughter-in-law. Even if I wasn’t fine before, seeing your face has just made my day." The old woman said.

"You’re attending an event hosted by your family. Are you sure you’ll be okay?" Harlow nodded.

"I’ll be just fine. Take good care of yourself." She said and the old woman nodded.

"Miss Blackwood." A familiar voice called from behind and Harlow smiled. Andrew walked over to where she was and was shocked to see Alanis with her, "Mr Hamilton." He greeted but Alanis didn’t respond to him.

His jealousy was obvious.

Even if he didn’t talk to anyone in high school except Claudia, that didn’t mean he was oblivious to his environment. He had seen how obsessed Andrew was with Harlow. He followed her everywhere and she always rejected him at all times.

But even if she had rejected him back then, Andrew seems to have changed a lot now. This woman might give him a chance.

The thought alone made his blood boil, but he kept reminding himself countless times it was none of his business and he was getting married soon. He should focus more on building his family.

Andrew placed his hands in his pocket. "You’re here so early," Harlow asked and Alanis rolled his eyes. He noticed how happy she gets with other men, yet for him, she treats him like trash.

"I came to help," Andrew said.

"Grandma, this is Andrew, a friend of mine." She introduced them.

"Will you look at that, Harlow found a better match than Alanis," Grandma said. "It’s very wonderful to meet you, Mr Andrew..."

"Phillipsburg."

"Oh the Phillips, that’s a very reputable family." Grandma Hamilton said.

"Thank you, Mrs Hamilton," Andrew said.

"We should hurry in, the event is about to start," Harlow said and both she and Andrew started walking in. Alanis gritted his teeth the way that man held his woman, but he suppressed his anger.

He had reincarnated for a reason, and that reason was to finally let Harlow free.

And that he would do. He will not let her suffer the way she did in his past life, he had caused her death before, and this time, he will make things right.

Her happiness is all he ever wanted. But one thing he couldn’t understand was why he was so angry and felt suffocated knowing that man was with his wife.

He couldn’t imagine her with another man.

Why is it so hard to let her go even if he knows it’s for the best?

And since when did he start feeling this way for his wife?
