Harlow’s chest tightened, anger and despair clashing within her. She hated him. Alanis had destroyed her. He had ruined her life, shattered her heart, and stolen her children. He stood by while the world crushed her beneath, while his family dragged her name through the mud.

She should be plotting her revenge on him and his family not sitting to have a dinner date with him.

"This must be a joke." She muttered with a bitter smile.

Before Alanis could say another word, Harlow pushed back her chair and stood abruptly, her movements stiff and purposeful. Without meeting his gaze, she turned and strode toward the door, the clack of her heels on the polished floor echoing like the beat of her racing heart.

She needed air. She needed to think.

This had to be a joke. Some cruel, twisted joke orchestrated by the universe to break her all over again.

Was she a pawn in some cosmic game?

A player forced to endure the whims of fate?

The cool night air hit her as she stepped outside the private dining room, but it did little to soothe her spiraling thoughts. Her mind raced, her emotions crashing against one another like a storm at sea.

Alanis cannot love her... Harlow shook her head in denial.

She clenched her fists at her sides, her nails digging into her palms as she nodded to herself.

This might be one of his tricks to get her back since Claudia has rejected him. Harlow nodded at her thought. She will never let him deceive her anymore. She will guard her heart and never let it beat for a man like Alanis.

She took turn after turn, moving instinctively until she arrived at the shore where the waves kissed the sand.

The sound of the ocean soothed her frazzled mind, and she paused, staring at the water as it danced under the moonlight. It was beautiful, hypnotic, and it called to her in a way that few things could.

Without hesitation, she slipped off her sandals, the sand cool and soft beneath her feet. Slowly, she stepped toward the water, her breath catching as the first wave rolled over her toes, cold but soothing. "Hmm." She closed her eyes moaning softly. This was the best feeling in the world.

For a moment, she had forgotten her pain. The man she had left behind. She didn’t care about anything or anyone. Nothing mattered to her anymore.

When she awoke, she had thought this life would be easy. Breaking free from Alanis would be her ticket to freedom. A ticket to the life she had missed in her past life. But this was worse.

She had discovered more than she ever expected. Her father still hated her and even more.

Her family has kicked her out and even disowned her. She had been even more misunderstood than before. But above all, Alanis has declared his love for her.

Inside the restaurant, Alanis remained seated, his brow furrowed as he stared at the empty chair across from him. He replayed the moment over and over in his mind, searching for something he had done wrong.

Did he say something wrong too?

All he had done was tell Harlow the truth. Tell her how he truly felt. Was that wrong, too?

Did she hate him so much that even his love for her became an offense?

He exhaled sharply, frustration evident on his face. He couldn’t understand why she hated him so deeply, why she seemed to loathe every word he spoke, every gesture he made. Her eyes are filled with hate and an unspoken displeasure whenever she sees him.

The Alanis of this life had done nothing to her, nothing to deserve the venom in her gaze and words. He knows if he gives her a knife, she won’t hesitate to pierce it through his heart.

The only crime he had committed was falling in love with her. A crime he couldn’t take back, even if he tried.

And he wouldn’t.

She could run all she wanted, and hate him as fiercely as her heart allowed, but it wouldn’t change the truth. Alanis wasn’t the man he had been in his past life. He was changed.

He has cried, berated himself, destroyed things, regretted and most of all, learned from his mistakes. He would do anything to win his wife over again. He would never let his past repeat anymore.

He stood from his chair, his expression firm. If she thought she could escape him, she was mistaken.

"The view here looks beautiful." Harlow paused and gently opened her eyes.

"I don’t know my crime or why you hate me so much, but I’m sorry." She chuckled at his words. Since he wouldn’t give up, she would give him what he wanted.

A menace of a wife...

She has thought about it through and through and decided she wanted to be married to Alanis again. That way she could easily get her revenge on the family.

She was doing this for her Alex. The innocent child no one loved. The same child every member of the Hamilton family chided but killed her when they discovered he was no more. They will pay for everything they have done to her Alex.

"I don’t believe you." Harlow shook her head. "You don’t love me, it’s only a fling and it’ll pass." Her voice was cold, devoid of any emotion.

"And how do you know that?" His deep voice was calm under the crashing waves. She met his gaze, her green eyes glowing under the light.

"I’m not a good person Mr Hamilton. Staying away from me is the best option." She turned her gaze to the water. "I hate you and your entire family. I’m your worst enemy, the only thing I want is to destroy you all." She continued.

"The last thing you should do is keep an enemy close."

"Then you’re perfect," Alanis said out loud. "I’ll help you destroy me and my family. We deserve it. I just want you back as my wife." Harlow’s eyes widened slightly as she stared at him in disbelief.

Has this man gone crazy?

He was willing to trade his family for her? Just who the hell is this man?

"I’m useless, I can’t cook, clean, or bear children. Children are off limit." Alanis smiled.

"That is not a problem. I will cook, clean, and bear children for us." He said calmly leaving the woman before him speechless. She had said everything to make him change his mind yet he has refused to do that.

"If you want me back as your wife, then you’ll have to step down as the CEO of the Hamilton’s co-operations." Harlow finalized indifferently.
