Chapter 78: RULES

Chapter 78: RULES

"If you want me back as your wife, then you’ll have to step down as the CEO of the Hamilton’s co-operations." Harlow finalized indifferently. Alanis was silent for a moment, then he said.

"And who do you want me to appoint as the new CEO boss?" His words shocked Harlow even more. Now he’s willing to lose his father’s company because she said so?

She was right. It must be the wine, Alanis has gone mad. The man she knew, the man she has known for ten years of her life would rather eat dog poop than step down. He was ruthless when it came to business. But why is he so soft right now?

"Me, I want to be the next CEO of Hamilton’s co-operations. I bare the name and you’ll do all the work." He nodded.

"Your wish is my command." He responded.

"You still want me to be your wife even after everything I’ve said?" Harlow asked shocked herself. No one would want a woman like her ever. "I have no skill in handling your company, I might destroy your company and bring it down to the ground."

"I don’t care, as long as you’re with me." Alanis’s words shocked her even more.

"While we’re married, no kissing, no touching, don’t speak to me and I won’t to you. Don’t get involved in my business, we sleep in separate rooms."

"Yes ma’am." He responded with a smile watching the wind blow the strands of her on her face to the back.

How is this man still able to smile after everything she just told him?

"Then will you be my wife again?" He asked again.

"It’s ten already, your driver will be waiting for us. I’ll need two weeks to arrange my stuff and move in officially." She started walking away and Alanis followed closely behind her. He didn’t know whether to laugh or to scream. But he was happy.

When both people got to the entrance of the restaurant, they could both see the black car already waiting for them. Harlow stepped in and so did Alanis after her.

Harlow thought she had kept him at arm’s length, that her rules and conditions would create a wall between them. But Alanis wasn’t a man who accepted limits, not when he wanted something or someone.

Inside the car, he leaned back against the seat, closing his eyes for a brief moment. Harlow had made her move. Now it was his turn.

"As for those rules, Harlow..." he muttered under his breath, a smirk playing on his lips. "We’ll see how long they last."

"Don’t you dare break them?" She warned.

"Oh, I won’t be the one to break them, darling..." He drawled finally meeting her gaze.

He dropped her back in her little apartment before leaving. He didn’t waste any time seeing his grandmother because he knew she was perfectly fine. Feigning illness is one of the weapons she used on him as a child.

Charlotte had planned out this dinner date because she knew Harlow would never agree to go on a date with her grandson, no matter how much he begged. It’s clear Harlow hates her grandson and she couldn’t tell why.

Maybe the pain she went through in her past life affected her current life. It is the only explanation she could give, unless... Charlotte shook her head.

Just because she was given a chance to relive does not mean anyone else is given that chance. Harlow might hate Alanis in this life.

Harlow stepped inside her apartment and turned on the lights. Grandma Hamilton and Ava were already asleep on the sofa. They must have tried to stay up all night waiting for her to return, but couldn’t stay awake to even welcome her in after ditching her earlier.

She felt her cheek burn as her mind flashed back to the man from earlier. She couldn’t believe he had actually agreed to her terms just to make her his wife again.

She still believed he was drunk. She’ll know how he really feels by morning. She walked into her room to get two blankets and used them to cover the women on the sofa. She yawned, stretching her arms as she walked into her room.

After the long night, she felt so exhausted and worn out. She yawned again, took off her jacket and just fell on the bed. By the time her eyes opened again, it was morning.

Harlow was greeted by the most beautiful scent anyone could imagine. It’s been a while since she’s seen white roses. It was my favorite color of rose.

She sat up in bed and stared at the flowers, a small smile hanging on her lips. She saw a letter next to the flower and decided to read it.

’Thought of you and decided to get this for you’,

From Andrew.

Harlow smiled at the letter. He really was something else. She accidentally told him about White roses being her favorite back then in their high school and he remembered to gift her flowers.

The flowers were not an issue, it was how Andrew had found out about the location of her apartment.

Harlow got out of bed, picked the roses, and stepped into the living room only to see Andrew on the sofa conversing with Grandma Hamilton.

"Miss Harlow you’re finally awake," Ava said with a smile. She glanced at the young gentleman and then at Harlow and walked back into the kitchen. This is what she has been talking about, if Harlow does not go back to Alanis quickly, she might get snatched by all of these men.

It’s not like Andrew was bad-looking. He was handsome, but Ava had already chosen the man she wanted for Harlow. She had chosen Alanis amongst the other suitors that came for her Miss Harlow. She didn’t like anyone else for her Miss Harlow.

"Andrew." Harlow greeted sweetly.

"Harlow." He called rising from where he sat. Charlotte who has been sitting with the young man until this very moment frowned. She had no idea what had happened last night since she fell asleep so early, but seeing Harlow’s reaction to this man, it was obvious her plans didn’t work.

She knew her grandson was a fool. That stupid boy didn’t know how to woo a woman. He wasn’t a good gentleman just like Andrew. Unlike this young man, Alanis is rude and assertive. She could understand why her granddaughter-in-law hated him.

"What are you doing here?" Charlotte sighed as she watched them converse. She was gradually losing Harlow and she didn’t like it.

"I came to see you," Andrew said.

"Harlow dear, I fell asleep so I couldn’t get the details of your date with Alanis, how did the night go?" freewēbnoveℓ.com
