Chapter 79: ANOTHER SUITOR?

Chapter 79: ANOTHER SUITOR?

"Harlow dear, I fell asleep so I couldn’t get the details of your date with Alanis last night, how did it go?" Grandma Hamilton asked making it clear to Andrew that the girl was with her grandson and no one else.

"I thought you two divorced?" Andrew asked surprised himself. When Harlow said she was over Alanis he didn’t want to believe her because of her strong crush on him. Harlow hurt him many times in the past knowingly or unknowingly because of her crush.

She had eyes for only Alanis, the man who never valued her even for a second.

"We did," Harlow responded leading Andrew to the dining room. It was a small space, but it was comfortable.

"Are you back together?" Andrew asked and she shook her head. To her whatever happened last night was nothing more than a facade. Alanis had too much to drink and probably was spewing nonsense. There is no sane man who will be willing to lose everything he has for love.

Love is stupid.

"We’re not. The date... It is a long story." She said. Andrew only nodded. Ava was quick to serve the tea Grandma Hamilton had made her serve the young man. She would show him that an old woman could also be petty.

"Drink up quickly Miss Harlow, before the tea gets cold," Ava said and walked away.

"Let’s drink." Harlow brought her cup quickly to her lips and took a sip. As Andrew brought him to his lips, "Ah." He placed the cup back on the table gently.

"What is wrong, are you okay?" Harlow asked and he nodded. "The tea is extremely hot."

"Oh my, did it burn you?" Andrew nodded at her words. "My tongue." He stuck out his pink tongue which had turned red already from the burn.

"I’m so sorry, Ava isn’t always this careless. She must have had a lot on her mind that’s why she forgot to tell you about the tea." Harlow apologized on her maid’s behalf and Andrew nodded.

She has no idea why she never noticed how kind and patient Andrew was. Right now, she regretted how badly she had treated the man in the past. He didn’t deserve the way she treated him.

"Ava," Harlow called and the woman was standing before her in no time.

"Get some popsicle and honey for Andrew, he got his tongue burnt," Harlow explained.

"Oh my, I’m so sorry sir Andrew, I’ll get it immediately." Grandma Hamilton frowned at this. Her aim of burning Andrew’s tongue was to punish him, not get him closer to her daughter-in-law.

Ava delivered the popsicle and honey, she gave them to Andrew. The young man smiled politely at her, "Thank you, Ava." He said politely. Ava nodded and started walking away.

Andrew didn’t waste any time as he dipped the popsicle inside his mouth. "Soothing," he muttered. "I had no idea popsicle calms burnt tongue." Harlow laughed at his words.

"Not just popsicle Andrew, anything cold helps. But popsicle is sweeter." She picked the honey on the table. "Place this on the spot once you’re done, and it’ll be over." Andrew nodded.

If only she’d focused on her studies and not run after a man who did not deserve her in any way. What Andrew or anyone else didn’t know was that the playful little woman before them wasn’t just anyone. She was a boss herself.

The brain behind the Blackwood’s downfall. She will lead the Hamiltons to the top this time, but she’ll be in charge. She’ll steal every little thing they stole from her. She’ll make them all beg and kiss her feet.

"Oh, you have honey stains on your lips." Harlow quickly picked a napkin and dapped his lips softly with it. Grandma Hamilton who walked into the scene almost had a heart attack.

She managed to sit on one of the four chairs around the table as she stared at both people. "I heard Andrew has been a friend since high school?" Charlotte asked and Harlow nodded.

"Yes, Grandma. And a good friend, though I never noticed back then." Harlow smiled.

"Of course, let’s have breakfast together then." Ava hurried in with a tray of food in her hands and hurried back to get more. Harlow stared at the food, it had been long since she had breakfast this good.

"Did you go shopping?" She asked Grandma Hamilton who shook her head.

"Gus brought them over this morning, he said his boss asked him to deliver them since you’ll be needing them." Grandma Hamilton picked the pancakes and started eating them.

Harlow knew who Gus was. The day she visited Alanis in his office, he had been the one to attend to her, telling her his boss didn’t want to talk to her. Alanis had embarrassed her before his workers that day.

She was laughed at and mocked by everyone in there.

Ava brought in more food and arranged them on the table. If Alanis was spoiling her miss with lots of things, Ava wondered what had happened at the dinner. She wondered if her miss had finally decided to be with Alanis Hamilton again.

She had prayed to the holy mother this morning for Harlow to end up with Alanis. If she does, she has promised to give something in return. Something so valuable to her.

Harlow picked a piece of bread, she added jam to it, and started chewing. Andrew picked an apple and started chewing. After swallowing the first three bites, Andrew placed the apple back inside his plate.

"You’re done?" Harlow asked and he nodded.

"I already had breakfast at home." He responded and Harlow nodded. "Actually, the reason I came this early is to inform you about our diamond exhibition next month. I thought since you are interested in diamonds, you would love this." Harlow smiled at his words.

"That’s very thoughtful of you." She responded. The sudden knock on the door distracted them and Ava hurried to check who it was. After a while of silence, she returned with a man.
