The sudden knock on the door distracted them and Ava hurried to check who it was. After a while of silence, she returned with a man.
A young-looking man in an orange shirt and blue pants. He looked professional like he just arrived from an office. He held a black bag in his hands as his eyes moved around.
"Good morning everyone." He said calmly.
"Good morning." Harlow and the rest responded wondering who he was. She wasn’t expecting any guests today, not any she thought of.
"I’m Evans Collin Berg." He introduced himself with a bow. Harlow’s mouth fell open at his words. She recognized who he was immediately. When Alanis said he was sending someone for her, she hadn’t thought it would be the CEO of Shoot Pictures, the same company she hadn’t had the chance to apply to.
"I’m here for Mrs Hamilton." He said softly.
"That would be me." Harlow rose from where she sat. The man quickly walked over to her and shook her hands. "I’m so honored to meet you. I’m sorry for the inconveniences offered to you the day you arrived at the company." He apologized.
"It’s nothing, sir." She said. Truly, she was far from being upset, it wasn’t anyone’s fault that she couldn’t submit her screenplay that day. She had just been a coward that day. Though running away from Claudia was the best option, she missed a huge opportunity.
"Well, I’m here for the screenplay you wanted to submit. I promise we’ll get it into works immediately and contact for further information." Harlow was speechless. Even if she was the daughter of Frank Blackwood, never in her life had something been done this easily for her.
She just bore her father’s name but never tried to implement it. In fact, people barely knew who she was in the media, they only knew Claudia because she’s a public figure.
"I’ll get it." Harlow walked into her bedroom to get the screenplay. She handed it over Even, he placed the file in his bag.
"It was nice meeting you Miss Hamilton, I’ll see you later."
"Thank you." Harlow escorted the man out the door till he was out. If Alanis had remembered to send this man over, does that mean he meant every word he said last night?
Did he really mean it when he said he would give her everything she asked for? Harlow exhaled slowly as she thought about it.
"Are you alright?" Andrew asked and Harlow nodded.
"I’m perfectly fine. Thank you for the flowers, Andrew."
"It was nothing." He said. "I should be on my way now, I’ll see you later," Andrew said and started walking away. Harlow watched him step into his car and drove off.
She turned around and started walking back into her apartment. When she stepped in, she was greeted by the nosey Ava at the door who kept smiling sheepishly at her
"Miss Harlow." Ava bellowed.
"Nothing happened between us." Harlow cut her off.
"Then explain the gifts and pleasantries. Did you two finally settle your differences?" Ava asked, at the same time Grandma Hamilton was walking out of the dining room.
"We finally settled our issues and I’ll be moving back with him in two weeks." She said with a sigh only to see Ava pounce on her. Both women fell to the floor.
"I’m sorry Miss Harlow," Ava said excitedly, helping her young miss back up. Grandma Hamilton who had overheard the commotion from the living room stepped out to know what was happening.
"What’s going on?" She asked staring the the women smiling in the living room.
"Grandma, it worked. Miss Harlow settled her brawl with young master Hamilton and they will move in together next week." Ava ran to Grandma Hamilton and the woman smiled. If only they knew what condition Harlow had given Alanis.
Charlotte was the most excited person in the room.
Grandma Hamilton got too excited and hugged her daughter-in-law. She couldn’t believe it. Alanis has won Harlow over, but how did he do it?
"Welcome to the family Harlow." She hugged her daughter-in-law. She has always known Harlow was the right one for Alanis and she was glad she had finally come to her senses.
Her family was officially complete and in peace again.
"We should celebrate this, make an official welcome party for you." Grandma Hamilton said.
"That wouldn’t be necessary grandma. I don’t think the rest of the family will be happy with that." Grandma Hamilton frowned. In the past, Garth and her children had been an issue for Harlow, she will never let them harm her granddaughter-in-law anymore. It’s a good thing she’s now so strong and healthy.
"Nonsense, they have no say when it comes to making decisions in the family," Charlotte said. "We’ll throw a little family party to welcome you officially Harlow." Grandma Hamilton said calmly.
She typed with her cell phone and made a call immediately. In no time her chauffeur arrived before Harlow’s apartment. Charlotte left with him shortly after leaving Harlow alone with Ava.
Charlotte was so excited that she needed to plan out the party immediately. It would be a small party for both families to celebrate the return of her daughter-in-law. In the past, she hadn’t shown off Harlow as often as she did.
She returned to her Villa and the moment she walked in, she was greeted by three people.
"I know you know where Alanis is hiding mother. Please bring him out it’s urgent." Garth started.
"I haven’t been at home for days and the first thing you say is that? Where are your manners, Garth." Charlotte’s voice was a bit raised. Harlow wasn’t the only one who suffered under the mercy of Garth. Both she and her children punished Charlotte as well.
They saw her as an old defenseless woman, so whenever Alanis was not around, they would all punish and bully her. They called her nasty names. They did all this because of her illness. And as predicted, Charlotte will forget everything they’ve done in no time.
Each time Alanis returned, he would ask the reason for the bruises on her body and she had nothing to say. Most times she blames herself for falling, other times she does not remember.
