Chapter 81: DROP THE ACT
"You can drop the act now Charlotte. This is not one of your stupid games. We need Alanis home immediately, do you know where he is?" Garth asked her mother-in-law. Charlotte Hamilton has always been known for her stupid games.
Though owns more than half of the family wealth that is why she is respected by all, but to Garth and her children, she was nothing more than a sick old woman. Garth wouldn’t have been bothered by Charlotte’s shenanigans if Elisa Blackwood had not demanded the money and accessories she had gifted Garth because of Alanis’s marriage to Claudia.
Elisa had gifted Garth lots of gifts to make her daughter’s dream marriage come true, only to be disappointed in the end. Now she was demanding for her gifts to be returned.
Garth was scared because both she and her children had used the money and gifts given and now they have nothing to give the woman. She couldn’t tell Alanis she had collected gifts to send Harlow out of the mansion and convince him to marry Claudia.
Garth had given her two options, Alanis will remarry Claudia and apologize for the embarrassment he caused. Or she will repay everything she had received from them.
The gifts Elisa gave her were worth hundreds of millions, when will she ever come up with such money?
This is the reason she wanted her son to be in charge of the company. Just like in the past, she would let Alanis work from scratch and make the company big again, and then and only then will she strike and steal back everything he thinks he owns.
"Who says I’m playing games?" Charlotte smiled. The people she took as her family, in the end, have hurt her in ways she wouldn’t imagine. Garth had successfully turned her grandchildren against her. They all saw her as an enemy.
"Grandma, this is a serious situation. Bring out brother Alanis." Lia jumped in.
"We all know you hate Claudia and prefer that ugly scum over her, but please have shame. Brother Alanis is in love with Claudia and he would do anything to be with her." Lia said with confidence like she was in Alanis mind to see who he truly liked.
That day at the engagement party, Alanis helping Harlow had only been a mistake because Harlow pretended before everyone. She fakes being hurt when in truth, she was the one that hurt the man and killed him.
Charlotte only chuckled at their words, if only they knew Alanis and Harlow were back together and she had only come back to plan the exclusive party. Maybe they should be the first people she’ll tell the truth to.
"There’s no need to plan marriage for an already married man Lia. You should worry about yourself and find yourself a good husband since you have refused to attend college." Grandma Hamilton’s words were like a sharp sword piercing through Lia’s heart.
She hated her grandmother because, unlike her other parents, the woman was always honest with her.
"Mo..." Charlotte raised her hands to stop Garth from saying anything further.
"Rather than wasting your time planning a marriage that will never work, why don’t you help me prepare invitation cards for the party we’re hosting." Charlotte beamed with joy. Atlas, her granddaughter will return home.
"What are you talking about, why are we having a party?" Garth asked. Alanis just embarrassed their entire family before prestigious people in Hawkhalls yet all Charlotte thought of was a party because her grandson had not married the girl she didn’t choose.
"Because my granddaughter-in-law is coming back home." Garth frowned. She didn’t like the sound of this. She will never let Harlow back into the Hamilton household, not after the embarrassment she caused them.
"That girl will never be a part of this family, that would be over my dead body." Garth spat.
"Then you should get ready to die, and trust me, you will not be missed." Garth clenched her hands into a fist. She had no idea why this old woman was still in charge of the family, she should be the one in charge now.
She hated that no one respected her judgment in the family. As the second wife of Ben Hamilton, Garth wasn’t respected by anyone even if she had bore two children for him. She will never be able to get the money to pay Elisa back, not when Charlotte was in charge of 70% of their income, and she is in charge of none.
"I can’t believe you would let that girl back after the embarrassment she caused us," Lia said.
"Grandma, we have taken your nonsense for years, but it’s time you stop this madness. You can’t keep making stupid decisions for us." George said it was the first time he had spoken since they arrived.
"I have nothing else to say to you all. Since you’re not going to help me with the preparations, you might as well leave my villa." Grandma Hamilton started walking away. She walked towards the stairs till she got to her room.
Garth and her children left the villa over to their own. Garth knew she needed to do something to stop Alanis and Harlow from ending up together. It would be disastrous. Harlow is a menace, she would never allow that girl back into her family again.
By morning, Grandma Hamilton has sent an invitation to their close relatives, family friends, and members. The Blackwoods and their families too.

Frank Blackwood sat in his grand study, the heavy large desk before him littered with papers and documents of little significance compared to the letter he now held in his trembling hands. The seal had already been broken, but the words staring back at him rendered him speechless. His mouth hung open in a rare display of shock.
Harlow.
She was remarrying.
To him?
The very same Alanis Hamilton who had tarnished their family’s reputation, publicly disgraced Claudia, and caused the Blackwoods to become an object of mockery in society
Frank’s hands tightened around the letter, the edges crumpling under his grip. He had seized everything Harlow owned. Her inheritance, her properties, every ounce of her freedom, in hopes of forcing her back home, back under his control. He had expected her to crawl back, penniless and desperate, begging for his forgiveness and a place in the family she had supposedly betrayed.
But instead, she was marrying "that boy" again.
The audacity...
