Chapter 82: REMARRIAGE

Chapter 82: REMARRIAGE

The door to his study swung open, and Elisa Blackwood, stepped inside, her heels clicking against the polished wooden floor. Her face was tight with frustration, her brows furrowed as she approached the man on his desk. She was so angry that she hadn’t noticed the frown on Frank’s face.

"Can you believe what I just heard, Frank?" she began, her tone showing her incredulity. "I cannot believe she would do this to her sister. After everything Charlotte has done for her, for this family, Harlow is going to humiliate us again?"

Elisa’s voice rose as she continued, her anger feeding off the storm brewing in her husband.

"Garth called this morning to tell me about Charlotte Hamilton’s plans," she said sharply, pacing before his desk. "She’s pushing for Harlow to remarry Alanis Hamilton. Alanis! The same man who humiliated our daughter Claudia!"

What Elisa couldn’t believe was that all of the money and gifts she had given Garth had gone to waste. Alanis was going to be back with Harlow leaving her daughter humiliated for life. How will her Claudia ever get married again?

Who wants a rejected fruit?

Who wants a used fruit?

The same fate she has insulted her stepdaughter with is the same fate her Claudia has fallen into now.

Frank slammed his fist down on the desk, silencing Elisa’s rant. The sound reverberated through the room, his fury apparent.

"That girl," he hissed, his face reddening. "That ungrateful, stubborn girl. After all, we’ve done for her. After everything we’ve sacrificed to protect this family’s name. She spits on it. On us!"

"I told you to tame her before matters get out of hand but you wouldn’t listen. Now look at it." Elisa crossed her arms, her expression mirroring his outrage. "She doesn’t care about this family, Frank. She never has. She’s always been selfish, always seeking to humiliate us. And now she’s doing it again." She added.

Frank stood abruptly, the chair scraping against the floor as he moved around the desk. He paced to the large window overlooking the estate, the letter still clutched in his hand. His mind raced, torn between disbelief and anger.

"I won’t allow it," he said finally, his voice cold.

Elisa nodded approvingly, a glint of malice in her eyes. "Good. Let her see what happens when she tries to defy us."

"What will Miss Claudia do when she hears of the news?" One maid whispered to another.

"I don’t know." The other responded.

"What did you really hear?" The third person asked.

"I overheard boss and Madam talking about Miss Harlow going back to Mr Hamilton her husband." The maid said calmly.

"I knew it. I knew she was an attention seeker. All she wanted was attention and to humiliate her family..."

"What did you just say?" Claudia asked and all three maids fell on their feet.

"Miss Claudia please we are so sorry, we had no idea you were here." A maid said.

"We didn’t mean to bad mouth Miss Harlow." Another maid added, their faces facing the floor for fear of getting punished by their young miss.

"Miss Claudia please spare us we will never do such anymore."

"I wasn’t talking about that thing. You said something about Mr Hamilton." Claudia pointed at the maid in the center.

"M... Miss Claudia, I overheard your parents talking about Miss Harlow going back to Mr Hamilton earlier and..." Claudia didn’t wait for the maids to finish and she started walking towards her father’s study.

She couldn’t believe what she just heard. Alanis was going back to her sister?

Did he think Harlow still had an inheritance?

She has given him a good offer, the best offer even and he rejected it for her stupid sister.

She couldn’t understand when Alanis and Harlow became a thing. Harlow had stolen her man away and now she’s flaunting him in her face. Alanis was always hers before her sister came into the picture. Claudia’s heels clicked firmly against the marble floor as she approached her father’s room.

"Mother, what is it I’m hearing?" Claudia pushed the door open and stepped in. She was so angry that she had turned red. She would never let Harlow live happily with Alanis.

Just last week, Elisa had promised her daughter while she cried that she would be sure to make Alanis marry her. That’s the reason she had threatened Garth so that she would force her son to marry Claudia, but it seems to be too late.

While Elisa worked, Harlow worked harder. She has stolen a man that is meant to be Claudia’s.

"Now is not the time Claudia," Elisa said calmly.

"Then when is the time?" Claudia asked. She rushed to her mother’s side, "It hasn’t been up to two weeks since Alanis and I broke off our engagement and now Harlow is back to him." She cried so innocently like a wronged child.

"She’s the reason the engagement was called off in the first place. I told you all but no one believed me." How could she forget Harlow’s sinister smile when Alanis took her away?

"Everyone knows I met Alanis first. Everyone knows Harlow stole him away from. Will you let her steal him? Will you let her steal the one man I love and care about?" Claudia asked.

"Your father is working on it. We’ll find her soon and she’ll have to explain why she would betray us like this?" Elisa said to her daughter rubbing her shoulder to calm her down. "As for the Hamiltons, they’ll be out for good."

This is the reason Elisa has forced Harlow to marry Nathan Eagle. If only that man knew how to do his job effectively.

"The only problem we have now is finding Harlow," Elisa murmured pressing her forehead with her thumb.

"I almost saw her last week with Charlotte Hamilton at ’Shoot Pictures’. Claudia said.

So that’s the reason Harlow had been so nice to that old woman because she wanted to get Alanis back to herself. She had been playing games all along, deceiving them and treating them like they were stupid.

"You have nothing to worry about mother. I know where to find her." Claudia stepped out of her father’s study.
