Chapter 83: THE RAGE OF A SISTER
When Claudia arrived in her room, she opened her drawer and brought out a purple sealed card. It was the last invitation card for her birthday party. Though she had told Charlotte about it the day she met her, this time, she would invite Harlow herself. frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓
They’ve looked everywhere for her sister except one place. The place she truly belongs. If Claudia’s suspicions are true, then her plans will work effectively.
She hurried out of the mansion and stepped inside her car. She was still so angry, she knew her father would do nothing to Harlow. Just like her mother always said, Frank was a stupid weak man.
No one should ever depend on him to do anything. Claudia was done playing Miss ’nice’ girl with Harlow, it was time to put her in her place. By the time she’s done dealing with her, Alanis will not even want to see her anymore.
Claudia arrived at a familiar small apartment on the outskirts of the city. She knew of this place because one time in college she had followed Harlow home to steal their assignment. This was Harlow’s safe Haven, she had no idea why she didn’t think of this earlier.
She stared at the old abandoned building and doubts clawed her heart. The house didn’t look like people were living in it. Just as she was about to leave, she saw the door to the front house open and Ava stepped out.
Claudia recognized the face. This woman was Harlow’s maid back at the mansion, Claudia knew this because she was the only one who never agreed to hurt Harlow so they punished her most times for it.
Claudia smiled. She has found the right place. She stepped out of her car, a bright smile plastered on her face even if all she wanted to do was put a bullet through her sister’s head.
"Ava," Claudia called as she approached the woman. Ava who was taking out the trash was startled by the familiar peach voice. She thought she had escaped that voice, but it seemed like she hadn’t because her Miss Claudia was walking towards her.
Wait, was this a dream?
Was she seeing things again?
"Stop acting like a fool and lead me to Harlow," Claudia said immediately.
Oh no!
How did her Miss Claudia find out about this place? The was not good at all, Ava panicked.
"M... Miss Claudia, Miss Harlow is not here. I... I live alone." Ava lied, she knew the reason they wanted Harlow and she would never let them have her young miss. She will protect Harlow with everything she has.
"Do I look like a little child to you Ava? Get Harlow or you’ll face the consequences." Ava hurried inside immediately. She hurried to Harlow’s room immediately, "Miss Harlow you should leave now, hurry before they find you." Ava said hurriedly.
"Why am I leaving, and who’s finding me?" Harlow said getting out of bed, she had just finished working on something really important and Ava came with this mood.
"M... Miss..."
"Calm down and tell me, Ava. Who’s coming and what’s happening?" Harlow asked slowly.
"Miss... Miss Claudia." The door to Harlow’s room suddenly opened and her sly step-sister came to view.
"Hello, dear sister." Harlow frowned at who it was. She never imagined her sister would find her sooner. Claudia moved around the room, her eyes going through everything in her sister’s room.
"Father is looking for you Harlow?" She started.
"What are you doing here?" Harlow asked her. She knew her father was looking for her and that sooner or later he would find her. Even if he forces her to marry that old fool, she’ll rather die than do that.
"What else will I be doing here?" Claudia smiled. "I came to see my sister." She said.
"Tell Father I’m not marrying that man," Harlow said with finality.
"Why would you marry a dead man?" Came Claudia’s words and Harlow narrowed her eyes at her. "What do you mean?"
"What? Aren’t you aware?" Claudia asked. "You should know by now since you killed him yourself."
"You’re very lucky father decided to cover up for you. The police are still investigating everything. Let’s hope it doesn’t get traces back to us because it’ll be a big problem." Claudia sat on her bed and crossed her legs.
Harlow didn’t want to believe her but why would her sister lie about such? That day when she left the mansion, that old fool was very much alive. If he’s dead, that is none of her business, he tried to take advantage of her. He deserves everything he got and more.
"For an outcast, you live a luxurious life here."
"Why are you really here?" Came Harlow’s words as she stared at her sister.
"To make peace," Claudia said. This past few days, I realized how much I miss you away from home. We used to be so close Harlow, what changed?" Claudia asked.
She meant Harlow used to be their kicking bag, the girl both she and her mother embarrassed everywhere they went. The one they pranked all the time and pretended to love her. Because Harlow had no one she thought she found a family in them. It took her long to know that everything was just a shallow of her thought.
Elisa and her daughter have never liked her and they never will. They poison her food every day.
"Don’t worry Harlow, I won’t tell Father about your location. That should be proof of how much I really want peace between us." Harlow almost scoffed at her sister’s words. Claudia was so good at pretending and lying.
This trick is the oldest one in the books. Did Claudia really think she was a fool?
"Harl dear, please forgive me for whatever I may have done to you in the past. I acted out of jealousy, I never meant to hurt you." Claudia muttered her guilt palpable.
When Harlow said nothing to her, she continued.
"I... I also came to invite you to my birthday party. It’s next week. I will be happy if my sister is there with me." Claudia said softly, like a genuine person, when in reality, strangling Harlow is all she’s ever wanted.
