Chapter 84: THE RAGE OF A SISTER 2
Harlow stared at her sister quietly. She knew everything Claudia was doing was only an act to gain her trust and then backstab her like she’d done countless times before.
But what if this time all she wants is peace? What if she’s truly changed as she said?
She’ll only believe it if she doesn’t tell her father about this place.
"I... I also came to invite you to my birthday party. It’s next week. I will be happy if my sister is there with me." Claudia said softly, like a genuine person, when in reality, strangling Harlow is all she’s ever wanted.
She brought out the purple envelope from her purse and passed it down to Harlow. Harlow stared at the envelope in silence, her eyes scanning the paper. Even if she wanted to believe Claudia, she knows her sister can never just want to settle things with her without planning out something evil, but what could it be?
She hesitated a little before collecting the envelope. "I will be there Claudia." She smiled Innocently too, just like before. She loved Claudia and Elisa’s game and loved beating them at their games.
"I’m also sorry for everything I’ve done to you too Claudia, especially your engagement with Lanis. I was only trying to escape from Nathan and his madness that day, I didn’t know I would be disrupting your engagement, it wasn’t my intention to." Harlow said like a greenhorn. If one didn’t know her well, they would think she was being honest.
"Lanis?" Claudia repeated to see her sister smile bashfully.
"We settled Claudia. We settled our differences and he begged me to be back with him."
"And what did you say?" Claudia asked, her grip on the wooden bed was so tight that her fingers left marks on the wood. She was holding the rage burning within her. The pain and anger she felt right now was incomparable.
Harlow saw through it all, she saw how miserable Claudia looked. One thing she was bad at hiding, was her feelings. Claudia is like an open book, so easy to read and understand.
"I said yes." Harlow smiled. "I’ll be moving back with him next week. Not to worry Claudia, you’re allowed to visit me whenever you want." She added looking like the most happy person on earth.
For a moment Ava was stunned. Her miss doesn’t like her young master in any way. She would never talk about him or act like he existed but to Claudia now, she was speaking like an excited bride waiting to be taken.
"I... I’m so happy for you sister." Claudia forced a sweet smile even if all she felt right now was anger and hate.
"I’m so glad I’ve gotten your approval. What do you think mother and father will think about this?" Harlow asked her sweet sister. She could already hear her angry stepmother’s voice ringing in her ears, calling her every bad name known to man.
"Mother would be so pleased. At least, you’re back to your husband. She has even insisted I apologize to you." Claudia said.
"Why don’t you come back home Harlow, we all miss you very much?" Harlow shook her head.
"Not yet, but I’ll return before I go back to Lanis’s Villa." Claudia nodded, the smile not falling off her cheek. Her cheek was already hurting, since she had been smiling for good minutes now, but she endured and continued smiling.
"To make it up to you Harlow, why don’t we go shopping together," Claudia suggested.
"You need new clothes and shoes, you can’t keep wearing these— outfits," Claudia added pointing at the simple outfits on Harlow’s body.
"You know I don’t like those fancy attires and would wear anything like Mother said." Harlow started and her sister nodded.
"No thank you."
"Are you sure?" Claudia asked.
"I’m very sure."
A knock came in and Ava went to get the door. As she walked back in, Gus was directly behind her. In his hands were flowers and boxes of gifts.
Harlow and Claudia stepped out of the room to find out who it was when they saw Gus. Both girls didn’t need an introduction since they both knew who the man was.
"Miss Harlow, my boss asked to give this to you," Gus said with a polite smile as walked towards the table.
His boss’s wife is very strict and hates being addressed as his boss’s wife. He had no idea how his boss could put up with her rudeness.
"No, bring them to me, I want to see what they are." Gus was taken aback by her words. Every day for the past three days, his boss always asked him to deliver gifts and flowers to his wife but she treated them like trash and would always ask him to place them on the table with the other gifts.
But today, Harlow wanted to see the gifts. Does that mean she was accepting his boss’s offer? Does that mean she would be back as his wife?
Claudia stared at the man like something precious. Both she and her mother have been going around things the wrong way. Gus was her ticket to Alanis. If Alanis had asked him to send these gifts to Harlow, it meant his assistant knew he was about. Claudia wasn’t asking for much, all she wants is to see him and speak to him.
Claudia believes if she at least talks to him, she could settle whatever misunderstanding they have, she still believes Alanis loves her. She couldn’t watch Harlow be with him, that would be over her dead body.
"I shall take my leave now since this is settled," Gus announced.
"Alright. Say hi to your boss when you see him." Harlow bellowed and Gus nodded. With a deep bow, he found his way out of the house.
"Isn’t Lanis a sweetheart Claudia?" Harlow turned to her sister whose eyes were on His.
"He is indeed." Harlow narrowed her eyes, a knowing smile playing on her lips.
"Claudia, you know I’m your sister and you can tell me whatever right?" Claudia stared at her younger sister in confusion.
"What are you talking about?" She asked.
"Are you into Gus?" She gritted her teeth immediately. Harlow was really mocking her now. She had no better person to match her with them with an assistant. Claudia was about to respond when her phone rang. She checked the caller and smiled.
"I shall take my leave now sister, we’ll talk about this some other time." Harlow nodded at her words. "Just in case you decide to change your mind about shopping, call me." She winked at her sister, before walking away.
When Claudia arrived outside the little house, she got into her car and drove quickly to catch up with the man that just left Harlow’s house. Claudia wanted to see Alanis herself. She was tired of the rejection games.
"Miss Harlow," Ava called and Harlow raised her gaze from the flowers. They were white rose flowers, her favorite rose flowers. While she loved white, Alanis loved black.
"Hmm." Harlow didn’t raise her gaze from the flower.
"You don’t believe that act do you?" Harlow finally met Ava’s gaze, her green innocent eyes stared at her personal maid.
"Do you think I’m a fool, Ava?"
