Chapter 316: Meeting of exes.

Lai Yanfang didn’t leave the party after attempting to antagonize Alix. She did leave the ballroom however and walk in the direction that she had seen Caishen heading before grandma Zhang stopped her and introduced her to Alix.

She walked slowly with her eyes moving from side to side. She was like a professional bodyguard monitoring an entire place for threats.

After asking one of the servers at the hotel, she finally found him sitting in an empty lounge four doors down from the ballroom.

Mo Sen and the other guards that were protecting the door let her through quite easily and she didn’t even stop to ask herself why she was finally being allowed to come close to Caishen after all these years of unwavering rejection.

Inside the lounge, Caishen, Zhang Bo, two of their male cousins and attorney Jacob were holding a rather intense discussion. It came to a stop the moment the door was opened and an uninvited guest entered.

Lai Yanfang smiled at the men in the room and put on a look of surprise.

"I am sorry, i had no idea that anyone was inside. I was just looking for a place to relax and get away from the festivities for a while."

All the men in the room made a similar face, a frowning one. Surely she had to be blind not to have noticed the guards at the door. Not just Caishen’s guards but Zhang Bo’s and the other cousins bodyguards as well.

For her to claim not to have any idea that someone was inside was a shameless lie. Besides, with the way she was staring at Caishen so enamored and entranced as if he was the only man in the room was a dead give away. She had come for him and only him.

"Have you got this?" Bo asked Caishen.

Caishen nodded. It wasn’t as if she could try to kill him here, not with his guards outside and so many witnesses.

Bo slapped Caishen on the back and he gestured at the others, telling them all to step out so that the two could have privacy.

They all left, with the exception of two cats that were sitting on the counter of the mini bar behind the couches.

Majesty particularly was paying a lot of interest to the woman. He had seen many women in the course of his long life that looked at powerful men like that, obsessively.

He had a feeling that soon, his claws would scratch her fair skin. His new owner was finally letting her most natural instincts come to life.

Meanwhile, Lai Yanfang eagerly parked her ass on the closest chair to Caishen and spoke to him in a soft voice that was meant to entice. "Brother Caishen, it has been so long since i last saw you."

Caishen held back the disgust he was feeling when he heard her call him brother. He did move his wheelchair away from her, creating a distance between the two of them.

Her smell, her voice and everything about her, he found repugnant.

Yanfang moved a little closer and Caishen moved further away.

She was astounded and she said, "Brother, you don’t need to sit so far from me. We have known each other for so many years. Even your wife will understand if she sees us together."

He answered in a steely voice, "Miss Lai, a married man and a married woman should keep respectable distances from each other to avoid misunderstandings. Indeed, i don’t want my wife or your husband to think that there is something hinky going on behind their backs." freewёbnoνel.com

He moved closer to the door and knocked on it. Mo Sen opened it from the other end and but no one came inside.

"I think it will be better for the door to remain open." he told her.

Lai Yanfang clenched her fists and swallowed her anger. She faked a smile instead and controlled her breathing but the twitching of the corners of her mouth still gave her away.

"What do you want from me Yan...miss Lai?" he asked.

This was like a game of chess, he wouldn’t reveal any of his important pieces without a proper cause. Before finding out what she had been up to and what her motives were, he would act like a fool, unaware that she was the enemy hiding in the shadows like a snake.

"I just wanted to say hello, Caishen. Am i not allowed to greet you anymore?" she responded.

She had dropped the brother because he seemed to be hostile. In her mind, she thought that this was because he was married as he kept emphasizing.

"It has been so long since we last saw each other. How many years has it been?" she went on to ask. She pushed her hair back with her right hand and tried to look as dainty and feminine as she could.

All Caishen could think was that Alix did this move better. Not that she did it often. His sister hulk was better at seducing him directly without pretending.

He shrugged and replied, "I honestly can’t remember."

Lai Yanfang smiled but looked down and gritted her teeth in anger. Was he pretending to have no memories of the time they spent together?

"I don’t think we have anything to talk about miss Lai. The past is the past, it doesn’t need digging up. Besides we didn’t part on the best terms if i do recall so let’s continue on the separate paths we have chosen." He told her.

She turned to the side and scowled. Was he making a fucking joke, she thought. There would be no moving on from each other.

She turned her head back and looked at his legs. Sadness came over her eyes and she sighed. She suddenly came forward and tried to touch them but he dodged her hands.

"What are you doing?" he questioned loudly.

Out of nowhere, she started crying. "Brother, i heard about your accident and came by the hospital many times to see you but your grandmother wouldn’t allow me in. She even told the hospital stuff to be on guard against me as if i was a thief or killer."

Caishen brows went up and he scoffed lightly. She was the killer!!! Wasn’t she behind his accident? Had she visited to see the damage she had caused or to finish the job?

"Brother, does it hurt?" she asked, sniveling with that sad look still in her eyes.

Caishen couldn’t understand why she was fake crying. Outside, Mo Sen rolled his eyes too because he knew the truth and he also couldn’t understand why she was crying.

Was she regretting her actions or pretending and hoping that her act would somehow get her into Caishen’s heart again?

"Miss Lai, if you cry in here, your husband might assume that i did something to you. It will be best if we end this meeting here. I hope you enjoy yourself today and on behalf of the new chairman of the Zhang group, i thank you for coming."

Even before he was finished talking, Mo Sen and two other guards hurried into the room. Mo Sen quickly pushed the wheelchair out even though it could move without his help. All he wanted to do was get his young master away from Yanfang.
