Chapter 272 Battered
Chapter 272 Battered
Jake and Battulda were on opposite sides of a battered ground.
Rough pot holes littered the ground, aftermath of the fight that was going on here.
Jake's health bar was sitting in its perfect green, while Battulda had a yellow bar, showing that he had lost quite a bit of health more than Jake.
But that didn't mean that Jake had more health than Battulda. It only meant that Jake was doing some damage.
"All this fighting and this was the only health that I could shave off? At this rate the whole fight could take my hours!" Jake shook his head with disbelief.
"I can't go fighting continuously for a few hours. I have my limits man!" Jake knew that there was no way he could actually finish a fight that was supposed to take a few hours.
But all this fighting was not for no use.
Spending so much time deflecting spear strikes, Jake was getting accustomed to Battulda's fighting style. It was peculiar, and certainly not one that any player could adopt.
They simply didn't have as much dexterity as Battulda did.
"You are putting a better fight than I expected you to, human. When I saw you here, I was disappointed by you group. And yet, you are the stronger match that I have faced in a while." Battulda nodded with respect.
"Quite some time? That means that you have actually faced someone as strong as me before? How recently was that?" Jake's ears perked up when he heard what Battulda said.
He was sure that that stronger match was not one of the players. Mostly tier one players went through the first round of the expedition. Most of the second tier experts weren't that strong either.
So Jake was truly curious to hear who this strong opponent was.
"Perhaps I will tell you if you beat me. And the chance that you will know him, well it has been a while, so you have probably never even heard of who he is." Battulda shook his head.
His red robes were swept up by a sudden wind as he raised his spear, his thick, long hair, barely fluttering.
He looked like a hero, and not the boss monster that he was. In this scenario, it looked like Jake was the villain, stopping Battulda.
And Jake hated it.
Fighting with someone so handsome, and yet so powerful, it felt like this Battulda was made too perfectly.
One thing that came to Jake's rescue though, was that Battulda wasn't fast. He was strong, and he had incredible reflexes that helped him dodge any attack, but one thing that the didn't have was speed to match Jake's.
Jake knew it. When he was running away from a disadvantageous position, Battulda wasn't able to keep up, so Jake was able to confirm that much.
"I shouldn't take it for granted though. If even this guy here has a transformation, then for all intents and purposes, I am screwed. Completely and utterly screwed." Jake chuckled as he told himself jokingly.
Battulda twirled the spear like a spear, turning it on his wrist, creating a cartwheel that danced around his body as he rotated his arms.
It was quite the show, but it was also a defense that Jake couldn't pierce through. Any sword that tried to piece through would be cut down, and Jake would lose his sword.
He had already shown off the trump card of retrieving his sword. It was no longer a surprise that he could spring on to the boss.
"One, two, three, four." Jake counted as he moved, dodging one of the attacks. He then stepped forward, his sword barely grazing Battulda's thigh as the spear quickly struck Jake's sword, and the sword quivered.
Taking a few steps back, Jake twisted his wrist, trying to make sure it was alright. Every single attack that came from Battulda was too strong, and Jake was considering just throwing the sword toward Battulda.
At least that way, he was not losing any health, and he would get back his sword pretty quickly.
"Why are you so timid? I thought that after the attack that you mounted a few minutes ago, that you were quickly going to change to the offensive. But it seems like that is not the case." Battulda shook his head, sneering at Jake.
"If you think that something like that is going to even remotely make me respond-"
Jake moved as fast as he could, to the left, dodging the spear that came crashing down at him with lighting speed.
He could feel the gust of wind that came from swinging the spear so hard, just rush toward his face.
"That was close." Jake felt a bead of swear roll down his forehead, dropping all the way to his chin.
That was indeed, a very close call. He was close enough to get pierced through, and possibly just dying in one move.
"Every single time, this guy gets me." Jake shook his head.
"His arms are way too fast. What he doesn't have in his legs, its like his arms compensated for," Jake commented to himself as he started moving a few steps.
Battulda was not someone to chase after a retreating enemy. He only looked at Jake taking a few steps and shook his head.
"Did I not tell you? You simply cannot leave this place. Those are the rules. I do not make the rules. You simply cannot leave this place unless you beat me, or unless you die." Battulda said, shaking his head.
"Ah! Yes. I know that. But don't worry. Now that I got you in the state that you are in, why would I ever run?" Jake said, shaking his head.
Then, he took a deep breath and willed his eyes.
"Now for the final act." He whispered.
