Chapter 40: He makes him curious.
The morning sun greeted everyone warmly that morning. Bright eyes returned its greeting as families began to put away their winter coats against the warning of the weather forecast. Switching her wool top for a light cotton dress, a young lady on the 3rd floor of an apartment complex not far from the Davenport Police Bureau sat down to apply her makeup with a smile.
The cause of the good weather was in an apartment on top of hers and he hummed a tone as he poured the hot coffee in a cup. He raised the mug and took a sip before choking and hurrying to the fridge to pull out a jar of milk, and chugging it down.
Arlen signed and returned to the coffee, he returned to the coffee, he had followed all the instructions, how come it tasted so bad?
"The 67th try is a failure." He dumped the entire coffee.
"Oh! I forgot! The eggs." He hurried back to the kitchen and paused at the doorway, his sharp nose caught the scent of burning.
He rushed to the pan and flipped the half-brown, half-yellow substance on the pan, "It was not burnt all the way through. That is progress." Arlen smiled and then took out three slices of bread, he buttered it and popped it into the toast. Three minutes later, it was done.
No matter how bad his coffee and egg game was, he was the best at toast. Seeing the golden yellow shine, and the crisp sound, he was amazing. Taking out a spoonful of jam, he poured some milk into a cup, plated his eggs, and headed back to the dining area of the living room. He took out the remote and scrolled through the movies before choosing The Blue Corals.
"Hey! That lazy ass that is a waste of space. Why on earth would he be my favorite character?" That day, those hazel eyes had burned like fire, and he gritted his teeth, reminding Arlen of a cat. A cute lazy cat is happy to lie sprawled on the ground but the moment you try to touch it, a flash of claws would be in your face. Fast and ferocious.
He was right that one should not judge people too easily, just when he had thought he understood the kind of person the police officer was, he would do something to amaze him. The indifferent way that he had sat and watched the show, like he was not part of what was happening and yet He did not hesitate when he had thrown himself over to save him, just like someone who was so accustomed to saving someone, it was instinct.
A soldier. But he had checked the records and there was nothing. And those eyes. Those were the eyes of an ordinary person, he was a member of the Sinclair family, and he had grown up with those kinds of eyes.
Someone with those kinds of eyes hardly stayed late just to awkwardly comfort him. He smiled at that memory of yesterday. Normally after these kinds of things, he would have the most uncomfortable sleep, nightmares, or waking up over and over again throughout the night but he had slept so deeply, only waking up at 6:30a.m
It was such a good sleep, should he call Officer West, the best kind of sleeping pill.
And he truly had the most interesting expressions. Just yesterday, the way he blushed, the tips of his ears were so red that one could squeeze blood from it.
Arlen played with the eggs, his blue eyes glowed, and he really wanted to see them again. Those red ears.
He was curious about this person. Arlen had a bad habit of solving puzzles whether the puzzle wanted to be solved or not. He was like the most scattered puzzle that Arlen had ever meant, he wanted to put the puzzle together and reveal who Ravi West was.
"Ravi West. Ravi. Ravi. It really rolls off the tongue well." He wondered what kind of expression Officer West would show him if he called him by his first name. It would be very interesting.
"Arlen. Arlen. That is called harassing a subordinate and most importantly the person who saved your life. He is not a puzzle or a riddle to solve." Arlen slapped both his cheeks to wake up, his eggs had already gone cold.
It was so peppery. He drank some milk when his phone rang.
Ring! Ring!
Eager to do away with this breakfast that made someone wish for death, Arlen jumped up and hurried to the sitting area. He was still packing and because of the case, he had not had time to decorate as he would have. He had not even given Retired River, the gas grill that he promised. The other would be mad again, he chuckled.
Pulling his phone from the creases of the only sofa in the parlor, his brows twitched. On the screen was the long title, Axel Sinclair, first son of the Sinclair family and heir to the imaginary throne in their head. He rolled his eyes but he did not pick.
The phone rang until it stopped. Arlen meant what he told his brother, he did not want anything to do with the incident in the Sinclair corps. What did Ravi say again, Fate? He planned to lay the blame on Fate this time, his lips twitched.
The phone rang again and he casually looked at it, it was an unknown number. Arlen picked up the call, "What kind of childishness is that? Changing the line, Axel, I have no desire to return to the Capital."
"Is this Captain Sinclair of the Davenport Police Bureau? Your chief gave me your number. My name is Elliot Hale, I am the Captain of the Helios Police Bureau. You should come down to Helios at once." The voice was a little cold.
Arlen raised an eyebrow. Did something happen? He hurried to wear his police uniform, the wind moving at this command and holding the phone up for him. "What is the situation?"
"We have the suspect Alex Malley and some of the wanted villains of the Infernal Covenant. It is our understanding that you handled this case and were arrested yesterday."
"Alex Malley. I will be on my way."
