Chapter 56: AUCTION 3
Different prominent figures were present in the now tense room. Billionaires and multi-millionaires from all over the world were present. Others that couldn’t make it were watching the live broadcast from their devices at home, or in their offices.
Everyone wanted to be the highest bidder of what Frank called ’A Never Before Seen Diamond Collection."
"I want to also thank the brain behind these wonderful collections tonight. My very own daughter, Claudia Blackwood." Everyone clapped for Claudia. Elisa had never been more proud.
In all her years of being a slave for her father, Harlow has never been introduced to anyone as the brain behind anything. She always left unappreciated at the end of every auction. Frank would always tell her, "You can do better next year. I’m not impressed." While counting the millions she made him.
Most times, she makes him billions from her designs, but he never appreciates it.
"The first item to be auctioned tonight." Harlow turned to Richie and he nodded. While Claudia moved the other items back to the stage, Richie was yet to register his item, just as they planned.
"Ice Diamond Moon created by Eli & co, it was worn by Queen Iris herself, back in the early 80s. The diamond has been polished and refined and has now turned into a masterpiece.
"This item is going out for auction for 10million." He started. Someone in the crowd quickly raised their bid numbers.
"We have it for 10 million. 10 million going once, twice," Another person raised their bid numbers.
"Oh, 11 million. 11 million going once... twice... it’s sold." He stamped the gravel and the item was moved aside.
Harlow stood there as she watched the other items being auctioned away till it was down to her diamond fake collection. The ones Claudia will exchange with hers.
"This items are called ’Harlow Blackwood." Everyone turned to look at her, but she ignored it as usual. Claudia had insisted they named the jewelry after Harlow to embarrass her some more tonight. She would make her sister look like a fool before everyone.
The women in the hall already hate her, she doubts they would even want to buy anything with her name. This will just cause another scene.
Kudos Claudia...
"Um, the first collection is..." The Auctioneer started but had no idea what to say. Not only were the diamonds cheap, they were unfinished. The jewels looked so horrible, it’s almost like something a child would create. He stared at Harlow, wondering if she hadn’t shown anyone before presenting this.
"What a joke, is this what the Blackwood said they had for us? Ugly jewels?" A woman amongst the crowd said to the next. There’s no way she would waste her money on those.
Elisa glared at her stepdaughter, the embarrassment she had caused herself and the entire family.
People will mock them for weeks.
Frank stared at his daughter, was she doing this on purpose? To humiliate them?
The Auctioneer brought out the next diamond which seemed worse than the former. He took the courage to place it out for auction.
"Up next is Miss Harlow Blackwood’s play toy." He announced showcasing the unfinished diamond.
"This item is going out for five million." The announcer said.
"Five million, do we look like fools to these people?"
"Can they just present something worthy and leave this garbage alone?" Murmurs began in the crowd.
"Did they think we would buy anything with the name Harlow Blackwood attached to it? A known whore?"
Alanis already knew how this auction went in his past life. He had arrived with Harlow that night and Claudia’s diamond collection beat hers. It had been too embarrassing. Back then he didn’t care about her, so whatever pain she was going through was none of his concern.
But Back then Harlow didn’t divorce him, so the insults given to her tonight were never a part of his past life. It was new...
"Alanis, I love that necklace because Harlow’s name is written on it. Bid that."
"But Grandma, we really don’t have the money for bidding right now. Besides, we’ll have other better collections soon."
"Do as I say you stubborn child." He nodded and was about to raise his bid number when someone beat him to it.
"Oh, oh, and bid stick is up for five million. Five million going once, twice... Oh, another bid stick is up for 6 million." Harlow turned around to see both Alanis and Andrew bidding on her worthless Jewelry.
At least they have saved her tonight a little.
"Oh, ten million, ten million going once... Twice..." Andrew raised his hands.
"Sir your hands are already up, why raise another?" The announcer asked.
"This bidding is taking too long, 30 million."
"Oh my God, 30 million for Harlow’s Blackwood’s play toy."
"I think we should stop now." Grandma Hamilton said but her grandson seemed to be really rooted in getting the jewel for his wife in this life. There’s no way Andrew can beat him up to it.
"You wanted the jewel so badly, the jewel you shall have." Alanis said.
The Hamiltons were richer than the Phillipsburg, there was no way he was letting Andrew take this jewel from him.
"Thirty-five million," Alanis declared firmly, his voice cutting through the murmurs of the room.
The crowd gasped, stunned by the staggering bid. Whispers rippled through the audience as they tried to make sense of it. Why on earth would two young men spend such an outrageous amount on a seemingly worthless, unfinished item?
Some speculated they had more money than sense, while others thought they might be trying to impress someone. Either way, the stakes had just risen dramatically.
Andrew, standing tall and composed, turned to Alanis with a confident smile. "Forty million," he said smoothly, his tone calm yet commanding. He glanced at Harlow, his eyes locking with hers for a moment. Then, with a sly smile, he winked at her.
Claudia, who had been quietly laughing at her sister’s misfortune all evening, suddenly stiffened. Her expression darkened as she realized how quickly the tide was turning in Harlow’s favor. Worse still, it was her own fiancé who had stepped in to rescue her sister tonight.
And who was the other man challenging Alanis? It couldn’t be... Andrew? Andrew from their high school?
Alanis raised his bid number and made one final declaration, "60 million."
