Chapter 57: AUCTION 4
The people of Halkhalls couldn’t believe both men were willing to spend 60 million on that jewelry. They had both gone toe to toe over nothing. No one would wear that trash, not even a toddler would accept it.
"60million going once... twice..."
"100 million," Andrew said again. Now the audience believed they had both gone mad.
"200 million," Alanis said.
"200 million going for this piece of diamond. 200 million going once... twice... Sold."
Sold to Mr Hamilton." The Auctioneer announced. Alanis smiled at his victory, and so did Andrew.
His grandmother was right, Harlow is worth more than 200 million, spending that amount was nothing.
Grandma Hamilton smiled next to her grandson. Since he wouldn’t have the courage to apologize to his wife and make things right, she would make him do it, in her little way.
After selling Harlow’s piece Frank asked the Auctioneer to throw the remaining items from Harlow’s collection away and showcase Claudia’s. He would never let Harlow have the highest sales of the night. If she sold her collection for 200 million, how much are they supposed to bid on Claudia’s?
The Auctioneer did as instructed.
"Now the moment we have all been waiting for." He announced and all eager eyes turned to the silver trolley covered with the thickest of black clothes.
Harlow smiled staring at the trolley. "Enjoy your little victory while it lasts dear sister." Claudia came to stand next to her, a sweet smile plastered on her face to conceal the evil she felt in her heart. She would stop at nothing until she destroyed Harlow completely.
Harlow will know what true cruelty feels like. She would strip her of everything she thinks she owns. Her name, status in the Blackwood family and society, and everything else.
"Don’t think that auctioning a diamond jewel for 200 million will make Father forgive you and let you back into the mansion," Claudia said coldly, her lips curving into a mocking smirk.
"Alanis only covered up your shame," she added, her tone sharp and unrelenting.
"That wasn’t my intention at all," Harlow replied, her voice steady even as she stiffened for a moment. "I had no idea an exchanged jewel could fetch such an amount." Claudia stiffened.
"I know you stole my jewels, Claudia," Harlow said suddenly, cutting to the chase.
Claudia froze for the briefest moment, but quickly recovered, her arrogance undimmed.
"And what can you do about it?" she shot back, her voice dripping with disdain. "People will only see you as a madwoman, especially after the rubbish you pulled tonight."
Harlow’s gaze didn’t waver. "Making 200 million out of nothing might not be worth bragging about to you," she said calmly, her voice steady, "but it’s more than you’ve ever achieved without riding on my coattails. Let’s not forget, Claudia, the collection you’re flaunting tonight was stolen. Like everything else you’ve ever claimed as yours."
Claudia huffed, flipping her hair as if the words didn’t sting. "I’ll make far more with just a piece of my work," she bragged loudly, as if sheer volume would make it true.
"The first collection is this piece of diamond, made with different gemstones to get the best designs." The Auctioneer announced distracting both girls from their fight.
Murmurs began in the crowd. A woman among the crowd stared at the diamond necklace which looked identical to hers.
The Blackwoods are never known to produce something people know. They always set trends.
"Ha, isn’t that the same diamond Hangui, released last week?" A woman said.
"Look, Patricia is already wearing something so similar." Elisa overheard a few women speak amongst themselves.
"The first item is going up for 20 million." The Auctioneer announced.
"Hmph, 20 million over nothing."
"I’m afraid the Blackwoods have failed us this year. I should never have arrived for this auction, I’m afraid nothing is eye-catching."
"But we still have to bid for old-time sake, people make mistakes right?" The next wan said.
"Why will I bid something I already have?"
"60 million going once, twice... Sold to the man in a black suit." Claudia frowned. That diamond is the most beautiful in that collection, and they can’t even auction it for a good 100 million, what will that auction the rest for?
There’s no way she’ll let Anna have the highest bidding product tonight. Her father will be so disappointed in her and that’s the last thing Claudia wanted.
Stealing Anna’s diamond jewels was just not enough because they weren’t even as beautiful.
Anna noticed her sister’s frustrated face and started chuckling. "You had so much to say earlier dear sister. We’re down to the last necklace and combined is yet to meet my bidding price." Harlow mocked. She couldn’t just wait for her clap back.
"Well, if you’ll excuse me, I have work to do." She walked to the backstage where Richie was and registered her diamonds for the auction.
"I’m afraid the auction is over ma’am, the Blackwood’s diamond is supposed to be the last collection to be auctioned tonight.
"I promise you they’re really good and worth it." Harlow tried to convince the man.
"Ma’am I’m so sorry but we’re not accepting any other collections."
"What’s going on here?" Frank asked
He had noticed the commotion here and thought someone was about to steal the diamonds they auctioned.
"I’m trying to register my new diamond collection for auctioning Father," Harlow said.
"And do what, make another jest of us?" He asked already getting angry.
"That is far from my intentions Father. In the last collections, someone swapped it with theirs, but I promise this collection is promising." Frank thought about it for a moment. The guests all seem disappointed, maybe Harlow is right somehow.
If her new collections are worth it, it would save their family from the embarrassment Claudia caused.
"If you save our family this embarrassment tonight, you have earned your place back in the Blackwood household," Frank said to his daughter.
"I’m not doing this because I want a place in the Blackwood household. You have nothing to worry father, I love living outside, and the diamond I sold tonight. You can keep the money for the 200 million I owe you." She smiled and registered her diamonds. ƒгeewebnovёl.com
The Auctioneer was about to close the auction for the night when he got a word from someone.
People were already murmuring about how unsatisfied they were with the Blackwood’s collection this year.
This auction had been a waste of their time.
