Chapter 69: DEATH OF A FRIEND

Chapter 69: DEATH OF A FRIEND

"Elisa!!"

"Elisa!!" Frank called the moment he walked into the mansion. He had just returned from the hospital after getting the information about Nathan Eagle being dead. The doctor showed him the CCTV footage of his wife killing the man.

That stupid woman, she didn’t even try to hide what she had done. What if the doctor had not been sensible enough to inform him and not the police, they would have been in trouble now.

"You know you don’t have to shout Frank. I have ears, I heard the first call."

"What did you do with Nathan Elisa?" Frank asked.

"I did what every mother would do since you clearly cannot do it." She said nonchalantly. Rather than making that nobody disappear once and for all, Frank was willing to sell her child to that fool. A nobody she had wanted Harlow to be married to.

Nathan Eagle, even if rich, wasn’t only just an old man, people in the high society knew he was a stupid man wealthy families used for their dirty work. That’s the real reason Elisa had wanted him for Harlow, the world would never stop laughing at her if she had married a nobody.

"And what is that?

"Marrying my daughter Frank. I will never let such his and for Claudia."

"But you would let the same for Harlow? You told me he was a better option. You suggested Harlow be married to him, so what changes?" Elisa’s lips twitched. For years she had pretended she loved Harlow and that Harlow was only a rebellious and ungrateful daughter.

She has deceived Frank for so long. She had no idea when the word slipped her lips. Elisa smiled, "That man almost raped our daughter. He didn’t only do that he hit her too and tore her clothes. I can never let such a man marry my Claudia. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

"But Nathan said you approved him raping Harlow. He said you said getting her pregnant would give him an easy marriage." Elisa was speechless at his words.

"I... I..."

"That man knew so many secrets about us Frank, it’s better he’s dead." Elisa changed the conversation quickly. Frank doesn’t have to know how much of a bad mother she has been to Harlow. She couldn’t afford to lose his trust now.

"Killing him is not an issue to me, but how could you be so careless? You didn’t even hide your tracks." Frank yelled at her.

"What do you mean?"

"The CCTV in Nathan’s room recorded everything you did. The doctor had been kind enough to let me know before things got out." Frank said.

"And did you clear the entire thing and make sure he doesn’t have more footage against the future?" She asked nonchalantly. She should have checked the camera first before she did anything. She had been so focused on killing the man that she forgot what was necessary.

"Yes," Frank responded.

"You’ll have to kill that man, Frank," Elisa said, shocking the man before her. Frank frowned.

"Why would I do that? That man saved your life, killing him is not a good repayment." He said.

You’re unbelievable, Elisa. Do you even hear yourself? Kill the doctor who saved your skin? Who kept this family’s secrets intact?"

Elisa didn’t flinch. Her expression remained cold, calculating. "Frank, stop acting like some noble hero. That man may have saved us today, but people like him are unpredictable. One day he’s loyal, the next he’s the weak link that topples everything we’ve built. Can you guarantee he won’t come back to haunt us?"

Frank ran a hand through his hair, pacing the length of the room. "This is insane. Killing Nathan was bad enough, but now you want me to take out someone who’s on our side? You’re pushing this too far."

"Pushing what exactly?" Elisa asked and Frank was silent for a moment.

"So your solution is murder? Again? What happens when another person gets in your way, Elisa? Do we just keep killing until there’s no one left?"

"Don’t be naive," she snapped, her composure finally cracking. "This is the world we live in. If you’re too weak to protect what’s ours, then I’ll do it for you. Like I always have." Frank sighed and started walking away.

The title ’weakness’ is the reason he had been hard on Harlow, seizing everything she owned. It’s been a week and she had yet to return, Frank wondered what she was doing.

He had made sure she had no money left with her. And the information he got was that his youngest daughter was not with the Hamiltons either. Garth will never let her live there in peace.

Now Grank thought about it, maybe he had been a little too harsh on his daughter. Maybe he shouldn’t have treated her the way he did.

All Harlow did was try to make a name for herself, something he had always wanted. But he destroyed it.

All he ever wanted for his family, was peace, but right now, he had successfully scattered his family. Sending Harlow out of the mansion in the first place was a terrible idea. He should have never done that.

Frank wishes he could speak to her again and apologize for everything he did.

Miss Harlow, are you sure you won’t eat dinner with us?" Ava’s voice carried a gentle concern as she watched her young mistress. Harlow, seated by the small wooden desk, remained engrossed in the script spread before her, her pen gliding rapidly over the pages. Ava couldn’t help but smile softly. Harlow reminded her so much of young Arcadia, fierce and determined. But the smile quickly faded, replaced by worry.

It had been hours since Harlow last ate. She hadn’t touched anything since the meager lunch that afternoon, and Ava’s maternal instincts were kicking in.

Miss Harlow, if you don’t eat, you’ll starve," Ava pressed.

Harlow glanced up briefly, her eyes tired as they met Ava’s. "I need more time, Ava. I have a deadline." she was exhausted but she knew she needed to finish the script tomorrow. She turned her attention back to the script, flipping through the pages with practiced care.

This wasn’t just any script. It was THE script. In her previous life, Claudia had stolen this very manuscript, sold it to a producer for pennies, and reaped all the glory when it became a global phenomenon. The movie had skyrocketed into one of the most acclaimed series of all time, breaking records and earning accolades. Harlow had been devastated, but she let it all slide because of her love for Alanis.

Now, with this second chance, she refused to let history repeat itself.
