Chapter 71: SCREENPLAY (BACK IN TOWN) 2

Harlow couldn’t understand what her sister was doing at the company today, of all days. It was as though fate had cursed her with an uncanny knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Her family was searching for her, and if Claudia spotted her, she’d undoubtedly tell their father. The last thing Harlow needed was another confrontation.

Claudia, however, seemed oblivious to Harlow’s presence, engrossed in conversation with a man. His striking brown hair framed piercing blue eyes that were impossible to ignore. He appeared to be in his forties, his commanding demeanor making him seem even more intimidating. As Harlow’s gaze lingered, his eyes slowly met hers and she darted her gaze.

"Oh! I forgot something in the car, Grandma. I’ll go get it quickly," Harlow said, her words rushed and deliberate as she began to retreat. She didn’t wait for a response, as she made a beeline toward the exit. The further she was from Claudia, the better.

Meanwhile, Claudia concluded her conversation with the man, her polished smile fading as she turned around. Her eyes widened slightly in recognition.

"Grandma Hamilton?" she asked, surprised that the elderly woman was here all alone. What could she possibly be doing at the company? Was she here to see someone?

After the humiliation Alanis gave her at their engagement party, Claudia was yet to encounter any Hamilton family.

If she remembers correctly, Grandma Hamilton has dementia which means she couldn’t recall anything. So if she hurts her today, then she would never remember it either. Claudia laughed at her thought.

Well, Grandma will have to pay for Harlow’s crimes since she loves her so much.

"Harlow..." Charlotte turned around immediately remembering what she had forgotten earlier.

"Harlow?" Claudia raised a brow. "Are you hiding that girl after everything she did to me, Grandma?" She raised her voice attracting the attention of a few people there. Claudia took in a deep breath and then smiled.

"Grandma, where have you kept Harlow, father, and everyone have been looking for her." She said calmly.

"You see, my birthday party is in 2 weeks and I want Harlow to be there too," Claudia said sweetly. Grandma Hamilton stared at the girl before her and smiled. Foolish child, did she really think she was stupid to give her Harlow’s location?

She had been too old and weak in her previous life to protect Harlow, but in this life, she would make sure she fights and defends her granddaughter-in-law.

She had seen the mistreatment the Blackwood family gives Harlow. It is clear who the favorite daughter is and who’s not.

"I’m talking to you, grandma." Claudia shook the woman’s shoulders turning impatient. She didn’t want to ruin her reputation here and was also turning impatient. Since her father has decided to forgive Harlow and accept her back into their home, Elisa has come up with a sweet plan.

A plan that will ruin Harlow and give Alanis no choice but to marry Claudia. They needed to be the first people to find her and execute that plan immediately.

"I suddenly forgot the reason I am here, I should head home now. See you another time child." Charlotte waved her hands at the girl and started walking away.

Claudia wanted to run after the woman but the eyes of the people around didn’t let her. The last thing she wanted was for people to see her differently. It would not only ruin her career but her reputation would also be ruined. She had spent years building this reputation and she would never let Harlow destroy it for her.

She called in one of her guards and whispered in his ears, the guard walked up to the next and whispered in their ears also and they started moving around as if searching for something or someone. Claudia did the same as she made a few calls.

Harlow watched everything from the corner where she hid. In her hands was the script she was meant to submit today. She had only fifteen minutes left to submit the script and Claudia and her goons were already looking everywhere for her.

She bit her lower lips, wondering what to do next. She couldn’t afford to miss this opportunity. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime one. If she misses this today, she may never be able to sell her movie anymore. It’s not like she had any money or the Blackwood connection anymore.

"Did you see her?" Claudia asked the guard she bumped into and he shook her head.

"Maybe she has already left." The guard said to Claudia and she frowned further. There’s no way Harlow could have gone far already. They’ve checked the entire building for her, there’s no place they haven’t left unturned.

Claudia knew the reason Harlow had arrived. Her sister was known as a good novel writer since they were little. Harlow wrote interesting stories as a child and was praised for it.

Recently she had hinted about her unfinished script and maybe she’s here today to submit it for a piece of change. Claudia knows Harlow has no money and is in serious need of some. An idea suddenly popped into her head and she stopped searching.

Harlow stood there watching Claudia and her guards making a fool of themselves. She knew submitting this script was not possible anymore, especially since Claudia’s men were roaming about. Harlow retreated and stepped into Grandma Hamilton’s car. frёewebηovel.cѳm

She turned to speak to the old woman, "I know dear. I’m sorry I told them about you." Grandma Hamilton said.

When they arrived here she had wondered what company this was, and what Harlow was doing here. But after a while, she realized what the company was about. What she couldn’t understand was why her daughter-in-law was there.

This was a movie production company, one of the best in the country if not the best. She had never known her daughter-in-law to be an actress in her past life, did she want to be one now?

"Do you want to be an actress Harlow?" Grandma Hamilton asked.
